  1. Has anyone had the opportunity to compare the BM5As with the Focus 110? If so, which do you think would be better for home use. Thanks
  2. I just purchased a Benchmark Pre 420 and am wondering if I can add an amplifier so that I can use non-active speakers. Please note that I already intend to add my Rega Radio tuner which will use up my analog in port. Any suggestions? Or should I just stick with powered speakers, for instance the Dynaudio BM5A. Thanks.
  3. Just about to hook up a pair of Dynaudio BM5As with my Benchmark Pre for home audio. They are going into my family room at the back of my house, which is average size, but links to to a dining room and living room. One other glitch, the room they are going into has a cathedral ceiling that's about 25 feet high. So here is my question. Will the speakers fill the room sufficiently with sound? Can I get away without a subwoofer? Anyone had a similar experience? Thanks

  5. Has anyone out there had any experience hooking up their AM/FM tuner to their Benchmark Dac 1 Pre through the analog port? I'm just wondering how good the sound quality is. Or does anyone have a solution that uses the Benchmark Dac 1 USB, which needless to say comes with no analog ports? Thank you.
  6. Thanks Arin, I'm running Tiger with a G4 1.5 MHz with 512 of RAM, iTunes 8.0.2. Do I need to upgrade both my memory and Operating System?
  7. Hi Chris, Trying to weed through all the confusion and definitely need the help of someone who is more technologically conversant than I. Read your review on the DacMagic and still have a question... Do you think the Benchmark is the best of the bunch, including the Cambridge, Apogee Duet and some choices from Lavry? Just want to make sure I'm making the right move. Thanks, Stuart
  8. My apologies. I also wanted to know how the Benchmark compares to the Apogee and Lavry as well as the Cambridge DeMagic.
  9. Anyone familiar with the Cambridge DeMagic? Just wondering because it received good reviews in the UK audio press and costs considerably less than the Benchmark.
  10. Thanks Chris, I am a little confused. Were you saying try out my Powerbook before purchasing a mini?
  11. I am about to take the plunge with a Benchmark Dac 1 USB. I currently have a Powerbook G4 (with Tiger) and am wondering if it will be sufficient to run my system using ITunes 8.02. (To complete the picture, my music will be stored on an external Lacie drive). I have been advised to get a Mac Mini because the Intel Dual Core will work better than what I've got. Is this true or can I make do with what I have? And if the mini makes sense, how much better will my sound be? Are we only talking marginal? Thanks
