  1. You are able to rip from the gameos. If you install sacd_ripper.pkg. There has been no need to install otheros for along time. However, if you wish to install otheros you just need to install from safe mode. Holding the power button down for 3 beeps then release. The system will shut back down. Then hold the power button down for 4 beeps and release. This will bring you to safe mode. A screen with options 1 -6. You will need to install any 3.55 custom firmware to install the sacd_ripper.pkg. Since you already have 3.55 otheros that will work fine.
  2. The music column is in the sony main menu. For example, sacd ripper is in the game column. From there press left on the 4 way direction pad 3 times. Then you will be in the music column. You should see the sacd title. Under the title it will say either sacd or music cd. If the disc does show as sacd and you would like to try linux, just pm me and I will talk you through a fairly simple install.
  3. On the disc, not recognized errors, do they show in the music column as sacd's or just as music cd's. If they do show as sacd's my guess would be a file permission error. You may want to install linux and attempt ripping those disc that way. If anyone would like to try from linux here is a great bootable iso image. This will save you from actually having to go through all the steps of install linux. Red Ribbon GNU/Linux for PS3 / Wiki / Home Just burn to a cd/dvd and boot petit boot.
  4. I have attempted but so far failed to achieve a working 4.xx sacd_ripper. 2 problem that I know of. The first is that sacd_ripper itself applies ss service patches. On all 4.xx cfw these patches are integrated. Also, the patches are different on the 4.xx as opposed to 3.55. The second problem is that sacd ripper requires 5 different ps3 keys to be on a usb the first time it starts. This allows the loading of necessary modules. The 4.xx keys are available on the wiki. However, sacd ripper looks for keys named 3.55(key name). So the app would need to be changed to look for 4.xx(key name). That is all I know. Even then there are probably problem I do not know about. Anyone interested should probably PM grill.
  5. My post from over 2 years ago. That is old news. Yes. I am 100% certain that a downgrade cecha-e will run sacd_ripper. Every file in the flash is byte to byte identical after downgrading compared to if it were originally 3.55. The only time a downgraded console would not run sacd_ripper would be if an inexperience or ignorance technician used the incorrect logic board to repair the system. I have tested ntsc-u and pal cecha01 , cechb01 ceche01 all working great. Sad to say after that post I did not warn members of the excessive amount of heatgunned consoles listed on eBay.As I was not aware of the problem at that time. My suggestion would be to make sure the console has the original warranty seal to avoid the possibility of purchasing an unreliable system.
  6. Directly from your post #2233 "i also re-thermal pasted the ps3's with MX4. The process looks scarier than it looks. The main thing is to go slow especially with the ribbon cables" You do not work on consoles huh? Unfortunately for you the sacd community is smarter than the people who buy your heatgunned crap.
  7. Members do need to realize that when you purchase a system of off eBay and send it for a downgrade you no longer are entitled to any warranty from the original purchase. As you pointed out they should ask questions. The unfortunate truth is that most repair shops process is to reflow the board first. If that fails then they may reball the system. Knowing this I learned to reball. You have already do most of the work getting to the reflow process so it is ignorant no to reball. IMHO. You also said in your previous post "And who knows what crappy reflow job was attempted to try and fix the ylod even before the reball repair. Most people who have done any research on this topic would stay away from supposed reballed systems pure and simple". That is also why I have always sought out factory sealed systems to work on. A reballed system will last longer due to the leaded solder balls used to replace the more brittle leadfree that sony uses. Unless as you pointed out a crap reflow had been attempt. Most often if a heatgunner does attempt and fail it is because the overheated the gpu. By overheating I mean to the point of physically damaging the rendering the chip useless.gpu So a reball attempt is useless. When I first joined the forum I received countless pm's from member whom purchased system from eBay that failed shortly after purchase. As far as your comment "ebayers and profiteers buy dead ylod PS3 for super cheap and reflow the system, slap on cfw, resell for huge profit....rinse and repeat." My momma always told me a rat smells it's own hole. One of the main reason I was so adamantly committed to the sacd scene is because unlike yourself who advertises piracy. I do condone piracy. I would much rather work hard for less that steal. You also try to discredit my video of a reball. Saying it was deleted. However , I checked and it is still up on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ke4aKE1JJqc In closing nice plug for yourself. You sent you system to a guy in Georgia huh ? Members can see you are from Georgia. Just look at the location under your name. All I can say about that is WOW.
  8. If you do not like what I have to say do not read it. Simple as that. I am no longer going to be offer systems nor downgrades for the community. For the majority of member whom I sympathize with their need for quality systems ,I do regret that decision must be made. However , for the few members like yourself. That is why I have made that choice.
  9. What it does contribute is viable information that my warranty is absolutely valid for every member who has purchased a system. The funny thing is you do not read about the contributions I have made that do not work. For example remarring a bmd-001 logic board to a cechgf01 and cechh01.(does not work) Or the expense I paid to import other regions ps3 systems to figure out why the downgraded consoles would not rip sacd's. How about the 3 months I spent attempting to update sacd_ripper only to be ignored by everyone capable because their opinion was sacd are old news and not worth it. If you do not like what I have to say do not read it. Simple as that. This thread is about sacd ripping and how to obtain a viable and reliable systems is an extremely important part of that
  10. I have every right to reply to comments against me. Once again I will ask what contributions you have made ? There is a scroll bar on the right side of your monitor. Please feel free to use it.
  11. A screen shot that shows the date and response I provided. I did white out his email address for privacy.
  12. Word for word my first response when learning about the issue. I have read through your messages. As I do appreciate your business. If the system has broken after only 2 sacd's that has more than likely been damaged in shipping. I do test every system. International orders more so that domestic. I would ask you file the proper insurance claim. I do package the systems in excess of the recommend packaging to insure safe transport. As far as sending a replacement system before receiving the original back. I can not do this. Twice I have in the past. I have received a empty box on 1 occasion and the second was a firmware brick. The buyer must have attempted updating to official firmware. As A firmware brick is unrepairable and the buyer claimed it arrived in this condition. I realize you would think the cecha01 is a suitable replacement. However , there is a 100 dollar price difference between the cecha01 and the ceche01 model. I assume you purchased a ceche01. As I can no longer view your auction via eBay , please correct me if I am mistake. Here is a few thing that could have broken the system if not caused in shipping. If none of these occurred and you are unable to receive compensation via the insurance. I will once again take the loss and replace the unit out of my own pocket. If when you connected to your router you were asked by the ps3 to perform a system update and agreed. That updates to official firmware and bricks the system. If you inserted a sony bluray movie or ps3 game and were asked for a system update the same problem occurs. I have had system that failed on the customer. In these cases I am glad to replace the unit for them. Unfortunately , more often than not I have been deceived. As you can clearly see i did offer to replace the unit long before any post on this thread.
  13. I do not lurk on this thread to seek profits. go look on eBay for comparable systems.I charge 250 for reballed consoles with new lasers. That is compared to others who try to take advantage and heatgun board then resell with 14 day warranties. Often for over 300. One of these system not on 3.55 with 90 day warranty go for at least 220. If I was performing crap reball I sure would not have a 1 year warranty. Now would I ? You really think I am making great profits sell at these prices ? How many "sealed" consoles some moron heatgunned a super glued the lid on to avoid remove the seal do you think I ate the loss on. I was the one who told the community about the problem your were having with people using the wrong logic board. I am also the only one who tried to update sacd_ripper to newer cfw. What contributions have you made ? My video of a successful reball is still posted. If the system was damaged in shipping why should I have to pay for that ?If you were the seller and the same situation happen to you your opinion would be much different.I was very upfront that if he could not be compensated through insurance I would replace the unit. That was stated in our first communication about the problem. Bottom line is your way off base.
  14. I respect your opinion but do not agree. I have provided over 100 systems to this community. Always at very low profit margins. I make more on a slim in half the time. For my previous dedication to this community , I would think I at minimum have earned the right to defend false allegations against me. Out of the 100+ systems I have provided Before this incident I have only had 1 other system ylod. This was after a year and a half of use by the member. I was unable to repair the system and replaced the motherboard for a 100 dollar charge. On a few occasions the systems did arrive with slight problems insert / ejecting the disk. This is caused by the design of the system. I did send those members prepaid labels and repaired the system. Before this incident I have never requested a member claim insurance. Although the drives do rarely become misaligned in shipping. Recently and most likely due to this incident 1 member whom uses my system for commercial use is also accusing me of dishonest practices. I did offer to replace their system that developed a southbridge problem. After I learned they are using the system for commercial use I am refusing to replace the unit for that purpose. Sony does not warranty systems for commercial use and neither should I be held to.That was after 8 months of commercial use. If anyone can speak to the contrary I would love to hear about and resolve any issues. I have offered a 1 year warranty for at least the past year. Lastly Paul stated until this forums correspondence I was refusing to honor my warranty.eBay global shipping relabels all packages. Paul could not of had my address to ship the system to if I had not previously provide that information.
  15. That is completely false information. The nand consoles have bad block remapping. Almost every system does have a few bad blocks. This is completely normal. Each nand chip hold 128 mb of memory. The total size of the largest and newest firmware is 193 mb. Meaning over 25% of the chip would need to be bad before the system could not repair itself. Until recently this did pose a problem for downgrading. As you can clearly see the problem has been resolved. PlayStation 3 NAND Flash Tool The most bad blocks I have ever seen is 6. That is a total of 3 mb. A firmware brick occurs when installation of firmware becomes corrupt. For instance , if you are running modified firmware and install official firmware. The official firmware installation becomes corrupt due to the patches applied in the modified firmware. The official update is not properly encrypted. This also occurs when install modified firmware improperly. For instance , a system on firmware lower than 3.55 is attempted to be modified with 3.55 custom firmware. It is always best to install 3.55 official firmware before installing 3.55 modified firmware. A bricked console will generally start when the rear power switch is turned on. The system is attempting to finish the system update. Since it is corrupt the system usually ylod or shows high fan speed before powering off. To test if a system is firmware bricked you simply solder a wire from tristate to ground. This disables the systems ability to read , erase or write to the nands, The system will not shutdown since the system can not read the corrupted data.
