  1. I have opened up the case and I can tell you that there are 2 x 3.7v battery , one on each side . it is soldered on to the main board by short wires and how the wires are attached to the battery is not know as it is covered by vinyl tape , if it is costly to replace from your importer , it could be easily replaced by someone with skill , no rocket science !

    HQ Player

Just reported that I can do DSD512 on DELL XPS notebook running Itel i7-3687 2.1Ghz , max 2.6Ghz (supposed 2 cores 4 treads) with HQP setting : poly-sinc-mp-2s (ASDM5) ONLY with Pipeline SDM disable ! It runs smoothly without stuttering . Maybe the first 2 cores 4 treads CPU successfully doing DSD512.
  3. I cannot reply to you if removing the 5v does make a big difference , you can see the USB cable below and I follow Curious Cable (?) to isolate the 5v+ground away from signal wire and I did away with 5v & Ground initially , i.e. just 2 signal wires but that did not work , DSD8 just did not detect any signal so I added in the Ground wire and it worked immediately. I was using 1.5m WireWorld Platinum USB and I thought I had the best already but my own USB wire , just 1.5ft long , won immediately on the first minutes , it opened up the high and a much better defined base . I cannot tell you if it is due to removal of the 5v or to the structure of the cable , shorter length etc. but the improvement is very obvious . I am using the middle wire (shown in mid of the picture) as Signal + & - and a thick highly polished silver plated copper wire as Ground , no particular reason for the choice , just the best in hand only . Then it is covered with 3/4" copper foil and soldered everywhere to ensure working as a copper tube to assure max. isolation . But it beats my WireWorld immediately.
  4. I made my own USB cable with 3 wires ( signal + & - , ground . NOTE : - is not ground) less the 5v wire as DSD8 do not need the 5v trigger , this maybe the reason for your doubt about the benefit of Regen & Intona with DSD8 , I do not have either of them.
  5. Just a word of caution from my experience - I am using LPS 12v 12A to feed my mini PC running i7 4790 - HQPlayer - when doing PCM even up to 384 , the LPS is barely warm to your hand , but if upsampled to DSD 512 , the LPS can run very hot and when I monitor the system's power consumed , I find DSD512 consumes 3 time more wattage with @15W (PCM) to @45W on running DSD512 . So it maybe the reasons for differences observed by various LPS users .
  6. I understand your concern but we may as well give some time to Audiophil to deal with your problem , I am pretty sure that he is also working on this but probably not a problem easily solved , like all Window software , they have updates regularly to deal with user problems and it is us users that pushes a better Window with time , there are problems only revealed by different kind of users . Likewise Audiophil would also like to perfect his AO with time so that more novice users are benefitted from this excellent software - working from 2012 server to Win 10 is already a big step forward and perfecting AO for Window 10 would be his great achievement so far as there are 100 times more Win 10 users than 2012 sever . Just my 2 cents.
  7. I used @700 USD for a mini-PC running Win 10 Pro & HQPlayer + AO 2.0 and that is all I have on this mini PC - all software coming with Win 10 installations are there and were striped down with AO - my cheap mini PC is dedicated to Music only - so far with 2 weeks of daily running , I have no start-up problem , but if your PC is loaded with lots of other software , there maybe a problem I don't know , I also take in other advices not to update Window so frequently - told that AO is working closed to window core level - not sure if it is the right word - and update may interfere with installed AO. But AO is the only software that I find to improve the sound vastly than I would expected before installation . Hope AO would improve from time to time to render the software "easier" to Win 10. I am using Ultimate mode only .
  8. I have been using AO Win 10 for 2 weeks and I am running it almost everyday just to run in mini PC & T+A DSD8 , within period , AO runs perfectly and no problem so far , I would say , the SQ improvement is most noticeable from the 1st time you run it , I am running AO with HQPlayer & a few days ago , I tried it with Bughead - which I found the SQ to be slight behind HQP (both PCM) , but with AO , the SQ of Bughead - no DSD of course , is indistinguishable from HQPlayer , AO also improve JRiver in a most noticeable way , I must say , with AO's 5 activation keys per licence , it is actually a bargain , likewise , HQPlayer also , you have almost unlimited activations on your own PCs , before , I thought both were expensive (I mistook one activation only for one PC - like Fidelizier Pro) but now I consider these 2 softwares very cheap & a must for those really care about SQ , an average good PC plus these 2 softwares enable you to listen to music quality not much different from those expensive players - I have MPD-5 , Burmester 069 , Parasound CD1 , Esoteric X-03SE/G-03X etc. and I hope I am at least qualified to this statement --. Support from AO is excellent - almost the same day , no idea about HQPlayer - not yet !! This is no advertisement - just my own if not humble opinion only . Never thought PC SQ would come this so far !
  9. +1 . the advancement of cpu & dac chip technology allows us to listen to music with PC & HQP up to DSD 512 and the SQ is really very good , I have expensive players and I must say it is the first time that I am happy listening to pc music without intention to spin back disc. T+A DSD 8 makes this possible and within my 2 months of running , it never shows any trace of malfunctioning , just one complain that its IR code cannot be changed and it interferes with my Audia Flight integrated amp. my wife used for TV and I have to cover the front panel to avoid receiving any on/off IR signal from the Audia Flight remote. Hope T+A could allow several IR code options.
  10. I have tried both Advance & Ultimate modes and I can confirm that only Ultimate would allow shutting down both One Drive & Window defender and I must also say that there is no other choice but to choose Ultimate as it offer the best SQ and in Ultimate mode , I can still use VNC and HW PC monitor without any problem , so really Window 10 AO is very easy to use ! I do have a little problem here - I was installing AO Advance on my Samsung notebook and although I have disabled Window Defender prior to installation (if not disabled - no way to run AO exe.) but during installation , Window defender (?) constantly poped up and warned me of malware and informing me that it was removing the detected malware . It does worried if installation was completed and if Defender had removed "part"of the AO , thus I would like to ask how do I know that AO is working correctly after starting again ?
  11. As first time installing AO 2.0 , I am cautious and I do have the following questions ; 1. I choose Express and I am not asked to remove One Drive , Defender etc. as it is because I am just using Express mode , correct ? 2. What is the difference between running Service Tool / Strip Down Window & just AO as both involve restarting , Should running AO already stripping down Window ? I ran AO - restarting & run Strip down Window & restarting - just an idiot question - what is left behind for me ? Thanks in advance ? Larryng
  12. I am going to install AO 2.0 on to my Win 10 64bit for the 1st time , just a question , I have programs say Adobe reader , Advance Systemcare , Driver Booster etc. Do I need to un-install them for a clean AO setup or AO will disable them for me when working ? My PC is meaned to be delicated to music playing but would it be nice to have these softwares looking after my PC in the long run ? If no need to un-unistall - will I have them working again before starting AO in the next PC start up?
  13. I of course hope to have best from AO but fear I might not be able to achieve so easily without spending a week or so , I am not good at computering stuffs and many such terms are unfamiliar to me - just primary school standard & I hope I can enjoy AO with ease right from the start , I may then choose to dig deeper with time . It would be great if AO would allow an easy start just by pushing a button .
