  1. When turning up the volume on the schiit Ragnarok, connected to my Yggdrasil there are loud blips (from the speaker, not the relay switch in the Rag itself) 1. See the video of whats happening below. The right channel is the only channel that is effecting the speakers. a) You'll notice the woofers makes LOUD blips b) You'll notice the woofers physical extend to its maximum tightness 2. This only occurs when connected to the Yggdrasil 3. I tested multiple RCA cables and audio sources (macbook and Aurender N100)4. I swapped the left and right channels on the Ragnarok and only the right channel does this to the speakers fwiw...5. When I remove Yggdrasil from the chain, and am running a record player via a phono preamp, none of these issues are present. I've obviously stopped using the Yggdrasil after seeing this... 2. Yeah. They suggested keeping it hard wired. Do you think it being too long or not being the right kind of ethernet cable makes a diff? What is the ideal recommended ethernet cable to be used with Aurender prodcuts, gigabit? This was Aurender customer support's response: "Hi Christopher, Really, it should be connected via hard-wired ethernet to the router for the best user experience. In most cases, a decent electrician or AV installer can figure out a way to retrofit ethernet cable through the house if you are willing to let them be a little creative! In the long run it will only serve you well to have hard wired ethernet in your listening room…streaming bandwidth requirements are only going up as we move towards higher and higher resolutions. However, there are a few workarounds if that is truly not possible: - you can use a wifi extender which plugs into the wall and picks up the WiFi signal from your router. It has an ethernet output which you use to connect to the Aurender ethernet port. This solution works well as long as there is strong wifi coverage in the listening room. - if you don’t care about streaming/internet access, you can use a USB WiFi adapter like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078MNWHDQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Again, in that scenario you would not have internet access, but you would be able to browse and play content that is stored on the Aurender hard drive. Thanks,"
  3. It is a long ethernet cable for whatever it is worth. Like 16 feet long, just a generic one, nothing fancy. I don't see how this could effect anything about the sound though, haha. It's just an internet connection.. Maybe better to just get a little adapter? I'm going to order this one, Aurender customer support suggested it.. One question, if the internet connection is slow/or bogged down, will the Conducter app reduce the Tidal audio quality, or will it just not play until it is fully loaded? Wondering if a slower internet connection could allow the app to send a lower quality stream. Also, what kind of Ethernet cable I should use..any specific type? Gigabit?
  4. @Mazza Not aware of any settings on the Schiit that would influence anything (manual here: http://schiit.com/public/upload/PDF/yggdrasil_manual_1_1.pdf) Monitor Audio Silver 300 *speakers* -- (via RCA) -- Schiit Ragnarok *amp* --- (via RCA) -- Schiit Yggdrasil *DAC* -- (via USB B to A cable) -- Aurender N100 *streamer* -- (via Ethernet) -- Router -- (via wireless) -- iPad Pro w/ Aurender app or I unplug the USB B to A cable from Aurender, and plug it into my Macbook (with Apple USB to USB C adapter) running the Tidal App. Macbook is running from battery and directly connected to DAC, totally wired.
  5. Thanks for the replies. What do you think it could be? Especially because when I'm running FLAC files directly off a USB it sounds great. But with Tidal, sounds terrible vs my macbook plugged into the exact same network. I literally unplug from the Aurender, plug directly into Macbook on Tidal, same song and press play - sounds better. Could it be the way the Aurender plays with the Schiit Yggdrasil? I scoured the settings in the app and didn't see anything that I recognized I could change to effect the sound...
  6. Yeah, I paid the $49.99 for the MQA software update after I heard the audio, figured it might be that. Sounds same. Is there anyway I can check if its installed/running correctly on the system?
  7. I've got about 1TB/60k songs in music in iTunes that I use with iTunes Match. What is the best way to play all these songs directly through my setup with a DAC and control it nicely with an iPad, ideally with the iTunes/Music interface on iPad. I currently have an Aurender N100 but it seems highly inelegant to use its UI with all my iTunes music dumped in a rudimentary folder structure.... Can I just use a Mac Mini connected directly to my DAC and then remote control all of my iTunes with an iPad Pro? My setup right now: Schiit Ragnarok > Schiit Yggdrasil > Monitor Audio Silver 300 > Aurender N100
  8. I just got my hands on an old Aurender N100 and wow does it sound like SHIT with Tidal (HiFi/Master quality). Sounds like hand cupping / loses so much low end. In fact, it sounds worse through the N100 with Tidal than just plugging my Macbook directly into my DAC. Why would this be? When I run 192/24 Flac files on the N100 it sounds amazing, though. My setup: Schiit Ragnarok > Schiit Yggdrasil > Monitor Audio Silver 300 > Aurender N100
  9. and what do you mean exactly by 'an open connection to a filter cap inside the amp' - this is a good thing, allowing these tricks you are laying out to successfully work?
  10. What makes you sure that the power cable is where its coming in? I assume that is a common problem? Sure its not the amp itself, has to be the power cable? I wonder if there is perhaps just a nicer cable that has a ferrite core or EMC filter built in that I can just buy, rather than an entire strip
  11. Thanks for the tip mate. I just gave the looping a shot, but no luck, still radio coming through the speakers In regards to a ferrite core - would something like this work?
  12. My tube amp is bringing in radio play. The radio just plays through quietly in the background. I have removed every component from my setup and narrowed it down to the amp (talked with the folks from ascend and neuhaus). Any idea on how to fix this or why this is happening? The people from Neuhaus are saying they have never seen this happen with their amps.. They offered an exchange/refund but I don't want to exchange and get the same problem again. Is there anything I can do to fix this or should I just buy another amp from somewhere more reliable? Help is much appreciated! Currently I have a Neuhaus Laboratories T-2 Amplifier in my setup. My current full setup: - Ascend Sierra-1's - Schiit Bitfrost - Neuhaus T-2 Amp
  13. Seems like there isn't much of a word on these amps anywhere in the community. Only a few reviews (which are all positive). Curious if anyone has any experience with these or what anyone thinks about them spec wise. Reason I ask is because its not price as a super cheap amp at $800. I don't even use the DAC in it, I bypass it and use the Schiit Bitfrost. Wondering if maybe there is a better more well known tube amp around this price (no DAC needed) that would give me more bang for my buck. Or if I'm just reading into it too much and the amp is fine My current setup: - Ascend Sierra-1's - Schiit Bitfrost - Neuhaus T-2 Amp - Hifiman HE-500's (on the way, also wondering if these are legit with the T-2)
  14. Thats what I figured. Any idea how I can integrate this with my setup? A5 speakers, T-2 amp, + iMac.
  15. I have a Neuhaus Laboratories T-2 Amplifier and a pair of Audio Engine A5's - I want to hook the tube amp up to the Audio Engine A5's but obviously they are self powered speakers. Can I do this without creating a problem? I was reading on AE's website and it seems they said it was OK to hook up receivers and amps to their active/self powered speakers. Any help would be massively appreciated! T-2 Specs Audio Engine A5 Specs
