My system is very modest compared to others on this board. I have a Peachtree Decco 65 with Zu Omen speakers. My usual source is a Mac Mini. Maybe it's the flash drive memory or the fact that it has its own power source but the Pono player sounds cleaner and the instruments have a bigger separation and sound stage than my Mac Mini. I have a dedicated area in my house where I tie flies. I have an old Harmen Karden amp/tuner connected to 25 year old Klipsch book shelf speakers in a near field arrangement. I connected the Pono and it sounds awesome. I would not hesitate in recommending this player as a source. Does it it sound like analog? I don't know. I don't have a turn table.

If you could go back in time..............????

When bandwidth increased and the price of memory dropped, I wish Apple had used its vast resources, including its marketing machine, R&D budget and influence in the music industry, to make hi fidelity hip and affordable. -
My main system comes in right at or slightly above $3000. This system sounds great to me and was very easy to set up. Having just received my Pono, I could see someone using it as their source/DAC for a "budget system". Once PMW works out the kinks in the software that is. External Hard Drive, Mac Mini, Audirvana, Peachtree Decco 65, Zu Omen

I'm glad to read that it isn't just me. I have been driving myself crazy trying to figure it out.

I would look at a commuter bike like this Best Commuter Bike - PUBLIC D8i . You don't need suspension if you are not riding off pavement. If your paved roads are rough, get fatter tires. Because these types of bikes put you in a more upright position, there will be more weight distributed to your rear end; buy the best saddle you can afford. Padded shorts are a good idea and they don't have to be skin-tight lycra.

I'm listening to my music right now. It is 16/44.1 and I don't find it strident or painful. Sorry. Maybe you are a princess and maybe some of us are peasants who cant perceive the pea. I don't know, but I am glad that I lack your sensitivity, which, in my opinion, is not a virtue but a curse.
