  1. Ted b et al: So my Anker battery pack shows up. I charged it up last night and contemplated how to wire the thing up. I wanted a way to switch back and forth between the battery and the power supply - realizing that a boot up is required inbetween. the 4 pin connectors on a computer power supply are called molex connectors. I got a Y molex connector - put a SATA power connector on one side to go to the SSD, the other two connectors to plug in the battery or the power supply. I was delighted at how easy it was to do. Toughest thing is the teeny skinny little wires in a USB cord. Hard to strip without breaking them. So I hook up the battery - play a variety of things - think maybe I hear some differences, but just enjoy the music for a bit. Bass is a little surprising. Does the percussion sound crisper? Maybe my imagination. Then I play a song for comparison. Paul Simon "Late In The Evening". Great percussion. Switch over to the internal ps. Boot up. Play Paul Simon. Shock. A little disbelief. It sounds different. It actually sounds different. It shouldn't, but it does. You guys are on to something. Not sure I am ready to drink the two PC /windows server/ $1000 battery kool aid, but you guys are actually on to something. thanks
  2. After reading through the thread, I have come to one of two conclusions. Either you guys a really on to something, or you are all on something. I am hoping it is the first case. It only costs $43 to find out, and I am the curious sort. Ted b - I am going to solder together a SATA USB cable - I got the SATA part - red and black - but I haven't seen any color designations on the USB cable wires. Are they red and black as well? Have never cut a USB cable apart before - is it obvious which wires are power? i have two identical music servers, so it will be easy to A/B and I will be happy to report back what I find.
  3. Ted: PS3 up and running - working fine with latest (as of last week) software. All of a sudden - the PS3 will not recognize any SACDs put into it in SACD - ripper. "The current disc is empty or not recognized as an SACD, please reinsert". Any ideas on what to do. I read somewhere else that somebody had this issue and downgraded to a ripper version 3.0 (I have 3.6). If that works - where do you find 3.0?
  4. Ted: I have been lurking for months. Finally found a PS3! Firmware 2.80!!!! Really looking forward to backing up my collection - over 80 SACDs. If you could please send me the PDF with download locations for the comiled ripper. Thanks in advance.
