i wasn't so much thinking about burning to disc but about simply moving a file from 1 location to another. i still wonder whether a file would degrade if copied several times. i remember a piece in a recent hi-fi magazine where a large digital file (photo i think) was copied using 2 different usb cables and the copy made with the cheaper cable had lost some bits.

i guess experiences in the past with analog files (cassette/VHS) have been ingrained in my psych. as to my name, my family chose that for me as a nick-name in the sixties, long before it acquired it's modern meaning. thanks for your welcome.....

they are my own flac files ripped from cd's.

hi everyone, first time post.... i have recently been moving my lossless audio files from 1 storage device to another by usb cable. will doing this degrade the files in any way? thanks for your response, lawrie
