  1. Hi I have researched two options for Hi-Res Audio for my computer, it is used for Hi-Res Music, Spotify streaming, Podcasts, watching films and sound for my TV (PC is used in living room and connected to TV). These two options fit my budget and ease of purchase. I am interested in hearing other options, but I am limited on what I can order due time and which companies I can order from online. Options 1) Sony SRS- X99 2) Audio Pro Addon C5 with Audioquest Dragonfly Red My main concerns are sound quality of the speaker and ability to play hi-res music to the optimum. Do you have this setup or similar? Can you recommend it, or another option. Option 2 is also interesting as I can use the Dragonfly red with my laptop and Bose QC35 while mobile, but the audio is possibly not as good as the Sony. As I said I am short on time to order these products as I am moving abroad and want to take advantage of reclaiming tax. So I would really appreciate quick responses, even if they are short and to the point. Thanks very much in advance for any advice.
  2. Hi everyone Thanks for the advice, I've got the DACmagic Plus now and I'm very happy with it. Using my Netbook (until I order my new computer), PS3, phone and tablet via bluetooth. It sounds great and its definately very easy and convenient to use. So I won't be getting the Xonar Essence card with the computer. Cheers James
  3. Hi everyone Thanks for your quick replies, seems unanimous for the DACmagic plus. I'm going to choose that, as I can still get it at that price. Overall it seems to offer the best usability and price. Especially as I can use other devices without the pc needing to be on. Cheers James
  4. Hi everyone, I'm a newbie and want some advice I'm about to buy a brand new PC Chillblast Fusion Stealth Chillblast - The UK's most awarded Custom PC builder - Cheap PCs - Gaming PCs - Workstations Plan to use it for daily use, watching HD films, playing games and listening to music. I'll have it hooked upto my Yamaha as500 amp and Monitor Audio BX2 speakers. I'm really keen on listening to music to its best and making use of my stereo setup and I want the games to sound good too. I can get the Essence STX as an optional upgrade (£139) with the Fusion Stealth. It sounds like a really good option, plenty of good reviews. Except some people don't rate it for gaming sound quality (not sure what they are running it through). After researching a bit I came across DACs and I've got an offer of a Cambridge Audio DACmagic Plus reduced to £300 and the BT100 (for bluetooth streaming) £70. I also have a PS3 that I would like to run through my amp and Samsung Galaxy S3 + Asus Transformer that I would like to stream music through amp. Which option will give me the best all round sound for music, HD movies and gaming (in that order of preference)? The streaming is mainly convenience, if you know of a descent option to stream which the Essence STX then please advise me. I also read I can run my PS3 through the Essence STX and use it as a DAC. Which will give me the most bangs for my bucks? Save the cash and go for the Essence STX or is the DACmagic Plus worth paying extra for? Thanks very much James
