  1. Thanks for the quick reply. 1. Yes I was using mysonicorbiter to find the unit and kept the PSU on whilst plugging the cable in and out. No big deal i guess, just may have to reboot to get it working. 2. JRiver never had any issues with playlists when playing directly without DLNA. Again, not sure if JRiver is not handling the playlist properly on DLNA. I will enquire on the Jriver forums. 3. JRiver settings were ok. Gapless playback works fine. It is more when I press stop or change tracks, I can get clicks. I used your DSD2PCM settings as my dac does not do DSD.
  2. I received the microRendu last week and been using it but a few issues have come up. 1) I have to reboot the microRendu 3 times for it to work and appear on the network. First time, it lights up, but doesn't get a network address, and it doesn't power the USB interface. Second time powering up, no lights come on. Third time, it works fine. I leave a full 2 minutes between each boot to be sure of booting up and network and usb cable remain connected. This occurred with both ifi PSU and JS-2 PSU. After the final boot, it works fine and I've left it on for while since. 2) streaming DLNA from jriver 19 issues. Putting a playlist on 'repeat' usually does not work. It just stops at the end of the list (happens about 3 in every 4 times). Tried with and without jremote with the same issue. 3) clicks and pops when manually starting and stopping tracks. This may just be a DLNA issue as I've never used DLNA before. Previously just using Jriver directly on a CAPS and I miss its nice fade outs. The microRendu is powered by JS-2 PSU, feeding a Berkeley Alpha USB. Running DLNA from Jriver 19 on a CAPS with Jremote. microRendu originally on firmware 2.1, but updated to 2.2.
  3. Yes i'm 230V 50Hz as well. Both the old and new one have the same spec sticker on it and it does say 50/60Hz on it. The old one i could hear the hum from over 3 metres away and the new one only within 1 metre. This is at night time when it is fairly quiet.
  4. I received a new transformer from the dealer yesterday. The new one appears to be exactly the same as per the specs sticker but is definitely better. Not absolutely silent but much quieter.
  5. Thanks for the reply. My Keces unit already has rubber rings holding the toroidal. I tried changing the clamping force but it made no difference to the hum or vibration. I do understand that not everyone has this issue. However I'm not alone, there's at least two on this forum and 3 on another Australian forum. Most are from 230V countries suggesting it could be an issue with some of the toroidals running in 230V mode. Ronald, I'm also wondering if you could comment or give feedback on these issues?
  6. Yeah i would like to know too. It annoys me that this PSU was meant to be dead silent as per reviews but turns out to be the loudest thing in my audio room. tgb, are you from a 120V or 230V country?
  7. With a weight (old computer cpu heatsink) on the keces PSU, it is definitely quieter. At night time, it is just barely audible at about 2m, but at 3m at my usual seating position, it is basically not able to be heard.
  8. I suppose it is. Stock product image: http://www.keces.com.tw/5_english/dc116_04.jpg
  9. Update: PSU has been on for a day, nil change to transformer hum. There is a lot of resonance from the top cover of the chassis. Tried tightening screws to case and toroidal but these made no difference. Found a suitable weight to put on top of the chassis and this cut out the noise by about two thirds. Much better than before, but still there... will update again after i have a night session to listen to. Don't have a cheater plug to test lifting the ground. However none of my other components have any hum at all, so don't think that would make much of a difference. All components are on their own separate power circuit.
  10. I ordered and received a DC-116 today to try out in my 2nd system. It is a 230V input, dual 5V and 12V output version, powering a small CAPS build. It works fine, however it makes quite a loud hum/buzz. Easily audible at night around 3m away. Also very gentle vibration when touching it. I'm noticing that most others have mentioned that theirs is virtually silent. Any thoughts? Could this have anything to do with mine being 230V? Temperature-wise, mine only gets mildly warm.
  11. Upgraded from 1.08 to 2.0. Having a problem with changing items in the preferences (eg output device, max bit rate etc). They never seem to get saved. If i switch to a different pane, the options revert back to previous values. I went back to 1.08 and works fine. Any one else with the same issue? Is it a permission issue with settings file?
  12. Well tried the Amarra Hifi 2.5.1 update... and new problems arise... Now almost every time i play an album (with preload album on), about 3rd song in, i get silence but it looks like it's still playing. the next track will work fine, but not that previous one, even if i go back to it afterwards. If i click somewhere on the itunes timeline, it will work, but that's kinda annoying.
  13. I'm not sure if this is the problem that you have but try this: The files generally download into /yourhomefolder/downloads. When you double click on the dmg (disk image) file, it opens up. Then you drag the program into the applications folder shortcut that is there (as hinted by the arrow). This would have copied the file to your /yourhomefolder/applications folder. You can then close the dmg and run the program from the applications folder. You can make a shortcut to the dock by dragging it there. This is how you install most programs on a mac. As for the XLD problem. You have to go to system preferences, click on 'security and privacy' and allow apps to be installed from 'anywhere'.
  14. Tell me about it. On page 2 of this thread, i wrote to support about glitches i was getting in Amarra hifi. They said it was a known bug that was fixed and should be released by the end of the month. That was 2 months ago. Now with these new bugs from new versions of iTunes? Probably at least another 2 months i guess.
