  1. I recently upgraded my T2 from firmware V12.0 to 13.0 and am convinced that there’s some divine intervention going on with the new firmware ☺ My T2 is connected directly to Purifi based amplification and speakers. Distortion is exceptionally low across my entire audio chain allowing it to resolve detail to a high level. I was already impressed by the performance of the T2 prior to the firmware upgrade but V13.0 with Leedh active has taken it up a notch, particularly when playing music at low to mid volumes (via Roon). The difference is not night and day since the T2 was already exceptional but the improved transparency is, nonetheless, very evident to me. Thank you sincerely to team Lumin for graciously offering this at no cost to your customers.
  2. Thanks for the prompt clarification. I might explore using something like a Jensen SP-2SX (speaker to line level converter) to drive the subwoofer from the amplifier outputs.
  3. Can both the XLR and RCA outputs be used simultaneously with the Lumin T2 (XLR to power amp/RCA to subwoofer)?
  4. Thanks for providing this insight. I recently auditioned a T2 and was very impressed
  5. Fair point, however, it is a known fact (and expected) that a tube amp will have second harmonic distortion. This is not expected with a dac since it will limit the resolution of the dac. If a dac designer intends to flavour the sound by adding tube-like distortion, this should be made clear up front. What is your philosophy in terms of dac design and how to do you assess/measure the outcome? It would be really helpful to know.
  6. I simply asked for measurements. I did not say that I would not audition. Measurements are very useful in that they provide a readily accessible benchmark that allows me to quickly rule out a unit that may have issues.
  7. I wasn’t sure how to take ASR, at first. It seemed a bit amateurish. However, after seeing highly regarded engineers like Bruno Putzeys (Ncore, Purifi) and John Siau (Benchmark) take the time to post, at length, their thoughts and responses to reviews of their products, it has been elevated to a very high level, in my estimation. I am fed up with qualitative review sites that wax lyrical.
  8. The PS Audio DS is a different beast. It seems to have been cobbled together by a wizard that has cut his own custom code. It also uses cheap output transformers. He suggests that he would have used higher quality transformers, with reduced distortion, if budget permitted. The Lumin T2 and X1 use ESS chips. The best units measured by ASR seem to use ESS 90xx chips so I expect the Lumin units to measure well.
  9. I’m interested in a Lumin player and would like to to see detailed measurements (eg. THD graph, SINAD) for the T2 and X1. These are expensive units relative to what is available today and it would be good to know that they perform, technically, at a level commensurate with their price.
  10. Hi Damien Thanks for the explanation. This limitation should be noted on the Audirvana website under Dithered Volume Control. Currently, all it says is " High quality volume control offered using MBIT+ dithering". I may not have purchased a license if I had known that volume adjustment is only possible with PCM files. Vin
  11. Hi Damian I'm having a problem with the volume control function in that it will only allow volume adjustment with PCM files. It does not work with DSD. I'm running 1.5.1 with playback through iTunes. Thanks, Vin
  12. I would appreciate some help with getting the volume control function working correctly. I'm running 1.5 on a mac mini over USB to a Teac UD501. The volume controls works perfectly fine with PCM but is fixed at 100% (not variable) with DSD playback.
  13. G'day Ted, Newbie here from downunder. I would appreciate the PDF. Thanks.
