  1. The first analysis is a CD I don't remember buying, so I don't know its release date. The second is from AS, downloaded today. Big difference. foobar2000 1.3.1 / Dynamic Range Meter 1.1.1 log date: 2014-03-14 09:31:08 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Analyzed: Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band / Born To Run -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DR Peak RMS Duration Track -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DR12 -0.58 dB -15.19 dB 4:51 01-Thunder Road DR15 0.00 dB -16.43 dB 3:12 02-Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out DR12 -1.26 dB -14.47 dB 3:02 03-Night DR11 -1.09 dB -14.77 dB 6:31 04-Backstreets DR12 -0.48 dB -14.16 dB 4:30 05-Born to Run DR12 -1.28 dB -15.43 dB 4:31 06-She's The One DR11 -5.69 dB -21.78 dB 3:19 07-Meeting Across The River DR12 -1.66 dB -16.63 dB 9:34 08-Jungleland -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Number of tracks: 8 Official DR value: DR12 Samplerate: 44100 Hz Channels: 2 Bits per sample: 16 Bitrate: 850 kbps Codec: FLAC ================================================================================ foobar2000 1.3.1 / Dynamic Range Meter 1.1.1 log date: 2014-03-14 09:30:48 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Analyzed: Bruce Springsteen / Born To Run -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DR Peak RMS Duration Track -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DR7 -1.22 dB -11.08 dB 4:49 01-Thunder Road DR8 -1.20 dB -10.61 dB 3:11 02-Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out DR8 -1.29 dB -10.36 dB 3:01 03-Night DR7 -1.25 dB -10.06 dB 6:32 04-Backstreets DR7 -1.20 dB -9.59 dB 4:30 05-Born to Run DR7 -1.65 dB -11.01 dB 4:30 06-She's the One DR9 -1.87 dB -15.87 dB 3:19 07-Meeting Across the River DR7 -1.26 dB -12.10 dB 9:33 08-Jungleland -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Number of tracks: 8 Official DR value: DR8 Samplerate: 44100 Hz Channels: 2 Bits per sample: 24 Bitrate: 1517 kbps Codec: FLAC ================================================================================
  2. Sorry for the delay. I live in New Orleans and I just woke up from Mardi Gras. Here's my results from the HD Tracks version, then what I believe is the Deluxe Edition, and the MoFi. 3. I bought the 192 version Tuesday, as this is a desert island album for me. I also have the MFSL CD version and the 2000 remaster (and two old vinyl versions). I listened to all three and ran the audio analysis in JR19. It confirmed what I heard - the HD Tracks version is much louder. I'm not expert enough to try to interpret the dynamic range numbers, but I ended up preferring the MFSL and regretting the $25 spent. I can post some of the DR numbers if someone is interested and they tell me which ones ate meaningful.
  4. I want to build a Zuma but Newegg is telling me the mobo is discontinued and I should get an Intel BOXDH87RL instead. Does anyone have an opinion on whether or not this is a satisfactory substitution? Or should I pay the premium to get the BOXDH77EB from one of the Amazon vendors?
  5. I would suggest you copy down the serial numbers and give Richard Vandersteen a call. I have spoken with him several times and he has been very helpful and informative. He can establish their age. I have owned 1C's and 2C's as part of a home theater system and they were excellent. The 2W subs are awesome. I have a pair of 2CE Signatures (about 9 years old) in a room that's about 14' x 20' and they fill it up plenty. To me they are just what the reviewers tend to say - natural, musical and a great value. Keep them away from walls and give them a decent amount of power.
  6. I am using the NAD C315BEE in a Media Monkey, PC/XP, Xonar D1, Aerial 5B, JL Audio 110 system and I am having no sibillance or brightness issues. The NAD is babysitting for my Jolida RC-1000 tube amp while I move. It's holding up it's end of the system very nicely. Can't comment on the speakers, though. These new RR downloads sound smooth and full and the dynamics are darn close to realistic.
  7. I swallowed real hard when I saw the price tag (never having spent more than 2k on any component), but I took home the JL Audio 110 to supplement the Aerial 5Bs. After a half-hour or so of set-up it did indeed disappear. Until I turned it off and heard what I was missing. Pricey for me, but works wonderfully.
