  1. Chatted with Jonathan; they're working on a fix right now...a bungled region code thing. (Edit: fixed)
  2. Love Spoon, and been listening to the streaming version for some time now; great that Jonathan and the IAA folks are bringing this out. Strangely it would not let me buy it, said not available in your country (USA). ? I'll ping Jonathan
  3. Yeah, a couple years I assisted George (exaSound) as we demoed some very nice 5.1 multichannel music using the exaSound S88 8 channel DAC/streamer, Pass Lab amps and Magnepan speakers. It was a lot of fun.
  4. I bet that Goldberg sounds great! Anything Stefan's IAN label seems to touch sounds very well done in both Atmos and Auro 3D. Support this label! 😁
  5. https://music.apple.com/us/album/band-on-the-run/1443413822 For a slightly belated 50th anniversary we get Band On The Run in Dolby Atmos!! Blows away the quad DTS cd offerings from years ago, but it's not all good news. This mix was done by Giles Martin, and in Giles fashion it is somewhat inconsistent. His signature. Argh. Although I like the Atmos mix, I don't love it. Giles, once again, proves that he does not take an overall view of an album, but instead mixes each track quite differently in many cases...and this inconsistency drives me nuts! When listening to great Atmos mixers (SW, etc) you get a perspective that often does not change throughout the album...similar objects are placed in similar spots, and one gets the same musical vibe from each of the tracks, and can get immersed easier cuz there is consistency and logic, even in wildly creative mixes. Not with Giles' work. Each track has a different mixing style, it seems. That being said, he does some of his best work on tracks 4 and 5 (Mrs Vanderbilt, Let Me Roll It). The lead guitar on Let Me Roll It is so defined, so well placed, that we get to hear fret board fingering, etc. Pretty nice. This album is a major part of the soundtrack to my life, and thank goodness the Giles Martin team didn't f' it up...they just could have done so much better IMHO. I give the streaming version (let's hope for TrueHD someday) an 8.
  6. Steve is a great guy. I owned several of his pieces, and still have, boxed up somewhere, one of his modded McCormack DNA-250 stereo amps. Haven't heard from these guys in years. Glad to hear they are still pushing the envelope.
  7. Don;t forget the great Rhino Quadio offerings from Chicago and The Doobie Brothers. The Chicago box set is NINE albums, the Doobies one is FOUR albums. They are amazing. :)
  8. Chris, The room is quite magnificent, and the move to a more timbre-matched set of drivers is a big deal. I have a functioning 7.x.4 setup (and installed but not activated top middles to get me to 7.x.6) whose bed channels are made up of all Aerials (20Ts as mains, LR5s as center and surrounds) with identical drivers.....and when I decided to not only move my ceiling-based heights/tops from the classic Atmos 45/135 to a more Auro-3D-style 30/150 (hence the "need" for something top middle maybe) I switched out my wonderful but not quite cutting it SVS Prime Elevations up top and invested in two pair of the larger and driver-identical-to-my-bed Aerial 5Ts. Big improvement, just in the driver compliment, let alone then the move to 30/150. And once you do the prerequisite speaker pair "spatial renditioning" (getting delays perfect so imaging appears midway between speaker pairs) the results of all the drivers in synch is a wonderful aural thing. :) I mentioned 7.x.4 cuz I don't really know how to signify my subwoofer setup. I have 3 right now, with one being a dedicated LFE channel and the other two bass managing all the bed channels. I am thinking of going multiple LFEs but not sure yet. Anyway, more is better. :) Happy Holidays!
  9. Jonathan sent me corrected via we transfer and then said the MKV has been replaced on the site, too.
  10. As much as I like the new Peter Gabriel I/O (see above) it is not my favorite PG multichannel. His last original album, UP, was released as a 5.1 SACD and it's surround mix is very good. But my faves are the five tracks from "Us" that appear on the great and unheralded Play DVD. To have that album (and any of his back catalog) in Atmos would be something!
  11. Agreed!! His first album of new material in over 20 years, it's so wonderful that he is embracing the immersive approach. Although the material is not as wildly creative as even, say, UP (his last studio album of original material) it is still PG and it is still amazing. His music is so large in my life that we almost named our middle son Peter (although Peter Brady would have been an issue for baby boomers hooked on Brady Bunch...we named him Neil, as in Young). :) I saw PG for the first time live Nov 1974 at the Genesis Lamb tour (supposedly told the band after that performance that he was leaving at the end of the tour), and then have seen him a half dozen times solo since then, although not since the Plays Live tour. A real treat to have Yes and PG in Atmos in the past 2 weeks!!!!!
  12. Put on the Beatles Red album on Apple Music, play "And I Love Her" in Atmos and call me in the morning. :)
  13. Great find. I love that this immersive recording is conducted by a fellow named Immerseel. :)
