  1. thx Freann. This is was I thought :-( you need to be motivated to have such a hobby :-)
  2. I suppose that A+ won't reconfigure the output device on the fly. It would have allowed to configure the output device of the Mac Mini on the HDMI output to watch movies and automatically reconfigure it to optical output when playing music. Bit Perfect does that just fine but unfortunately does not support FLAC. It seems that all these software work great but only cover so many requirements... Anyway, I am still trying to figure out if I can live with this limitation of A+ and I have another question. I have deleted my iTunes library and used A+ to rebuild it (FLAC and AIFF) (had to do it by chunks though). Since A+ creates a proxy for each track I wonder if I can use iTunes to change genres and/or add album arts? So far I could not add any album art (I downloaded the picture and pointed to that file after I selected 'get info' on the track but for some reason it does not work). as for the genre I'm not sure if this works? does it update info on the proxy or on the music file directly? any thought? thanks in advance - Laurent
  3. Exclusive Access Mode is checked and I have now tried to uncheck it as per your suggestion but interestingly enough the FLAC files cannot be read anymore (?). Audivana displays an error message: "releasing iTunes playback" FYI - I typically have iTunes/Audirvana opened when I play a movie with VLC. I have closed both iTunes and Audirvana to run VLC but the issue persists. The output device in System Preferences/Sound is set to HDMI. Laurent
  4. Hi, I have a library of AAIF files that I read using iTunes and Bit Torrent. However I would like to add a large number of albums in FLAC format to my library. Instead of converting these files to AIFF, I would prefer to keep them as such and be able to play them all from iTunes. I have installed an evaluation copy of Audirvana Plus (iTunes Integrated Mode) and it works just fine so far to play AIFF and FLAC. Remote is also working on the FLAC files so I am almost happy but... I use my Mac Mini not only to listen to music but also as platform to watch movies. I am facing the following problem: when I launch a movie with VLC I get the following message: "Audio output failed the selected audio output device is exclusively in use by another program " Is there a way that I can have the Mac Mini use the built-in output when playing music and use the HDMI when watching a movie? I hope my explanation makes sense.... thanks, Laurent
  5. Sounds like a funny question but how do I know BitPerfect is running? The icon used to be green when running but now it is not anymore? Secondly I have noted the following change in behavior when upgrading to iTunes 11.0.5: previously I had the sound preference output set to my multichannel amplifier. When using iTunes with BP it would overwrite that parameter and the sound would go through my optical cable/DAC/Stereo. Today as I have upgraded iTunes it looks like this overwrite does not work anymore which forces me to set up the sound output manually to my multichannel amp when watching a movie or to the digital output when listening to music :-( Laurent (BP 1.0.7, iTunes 11.0.5, OSX 10.8.4)
  6. Hello, I have added new music albums to the "Automatically Add to iTunes" folder on my NAS but iTunes does not move them to the Music folder. Is there a way to force iTunes to move them? Also, when I play one of theses albums I have noticed that BitPerfect will stop working whereas it works fine when playing any other album stored in the Music folder? any thought appreciated. Laurent
  7. My computer audiophile set up consists of two computers and one NAS. I am using iTunes on a Windows PC to rip my CD’s and store them on a NAS. I access this same music on my NAS thru iTunes on a headless Mac Mini (thanks to Remote on an iPad). When adding new CD’s to the NAS they don’t appear in iTunes on my Mac Mini. Is there a way to have iTunes automatically update its index? Laurent
  8. some great sounding recordings in my collection include: Anouar Brahem: "Astrakan Cafe" Bill Evans Trio: "Waltz for Debbie" E.S.T: "Live in Berlin" Eva Cassidy: "Live at the Blues Alley" Jacintha: "Autumn leaves" Jacky Terrasson: "Rendez-Vous" Keith Jarrett/Charlie Haden: "Jasmine". You can add any of the "Montreal Tapes" recordings from Charlie Haden to the list as well. Marcel Kanche: "Vertiges des lenteurs". The first track "Elle m'en veut" has a deep bass that will challenge any amplifier and speakers... Michel Jonasz: "Pole ouest" Michel Petrucciani: "Live Solo" Miles Davis: "Kind of Blue" Musica Nuda: "Musica Nuda 2". Patricia Barber: all of her albums have a fantastic recording quality. I tend to like "Mythologies" particularly. Tord Gustavsen Trio: "Being there" Youn Sun Nah: "Voyage" Laurent
  9. I switched to "Minimize iTunes Interaction" mode and it did not fix the looping issue... BP is desactivated for the time being :-(
  10. It finally works fine! I ran Doug's AppleScripts for iTunes ♫ Re-Embed Artwork v1.1 At first I didn't want to run it as the script's manual mentions that it can crash iTunes if run against a large library. I finally changed my mind and decided to give it a try. It took many hours to process my +30k songs library but the result is spectacular. All my album arts are displayed in iTunes as well as in Remote on my iPad. @Souptin: thanks a lot for sharing this link. It really made my day. Laurent
  11. Thank you all for the feedback. I have investigated this issue a bit more and the mystery deepens.. I select a track (on an album that doesn't show the art), I right click Show in Finder and there I can see the embedded art. More interestingly I if right click Get Info on such a track, the album art is visible and by clicking ok, it forces it to appear in iTunes. What I wanted in the first place. Since I have a few thousand albums I'd like to find a way to automate this Get Info trick that I found. any idea would be appreciated... Laurent
  12. First post from a newcomer in the computer audio world.... I am using iTunes (11.0.2) w/BiPerfect on a headless Mac Mini to read music from a NAS. Most of the album cover arts are missing in iTunes which is funny as they are all embedded in the AIFF files on the NAS. Interestingly enough, I access these same files from a pc in my home office (iTunes on Windows) and the album cover arts are all visible??? Any advice as to how to make these cover arts visible on the Mac Mini? Thanks in advance, Laurent ps: not sure if this is relevant but The music has been ripped with dBpoweramp I have added the files in the Automatically Add to iTunes folder on the NAS so that they appeared in iTunes (on my pc) I then chose File/Add to Library on the Mac Mini to import the music from the NAS iTunes preferences on the Mac Mini: Media Folder location: NAS Keep iTunes media... = unchecked Copy files... = unchecked
