Try to connect the DAC with either Coax or optical to see if its working at all. There really could be an issue with the unit itself in the USB section.

Sorry.... Your OP listed two players and my response is for Jriver MC20 which works fine with the Asio Driver for DSD playback. I have no experience with Foobar. Victor -

I did get the Asio interface to work. There is a device setting for that interface and once that menu is displayed there is a tools area on the lower right hand side. Make sure that Dsd under Dop is checked. Also make sure that under the main Audio settings that Bitstreaming for DSD is checked and it should work..... at least mine does. Victor -
Ayre QB-9 DSD USB driver issue

I also have a new QB9 DSD and use the same setup as Beetlemania. I get no sound unless I use the Ayer USB Wasapi interface. This interface doesn't even show up unless the Ayer is physically connected. So... no matter what I believe that the Thyson driver is being used just with an alternate interface. Victor -
Thank you so much for the information. Its good to hear that the Rendu will work with my PWD.... I don't know if NativeX is a necessity. I know that some golden ears will jump all over me but listening to LCD 3 or HE 6 phones (my preferred listening environment) I cannot perceive a difference between Native or NativeX. I have tried very hard.... in fact its very easy to compare with Jriver as I can stream and have the player playing at the same time - adjust for time and can switch back and forth from bridge to USB with the PWD. If there's a difference I simply can't hear it. They both sound fantastic and identical to me. Thanks for clarifying whether i2s was in addition to or instead of SPDIF. The Rendu really does seem to be the answer for gapless streaming. Victor

I am in the trial period with Amarra 2.5 and am very disappointed. Execution is the big problem. My Dac (PS Audio PWDII) needs a little time to transition between sample rates. If it doesn't get it then there are audible anomalies and timing issues which cause audio to start into the track. A+ and PM both have this nailed down..... as it should be. There are many Dac's that need additional time for making sample rate changes. I also don't like the fact that I have to change the audio output in midi.... A+ and PM know that my Dac is connected without any changes in Midi. For maximum quality it is recommended that the stand alone player is used which is fine.... however to toggle forward or backward in a track is very, very clumsy. Adding tracks to the player is also very clumsy.... the tracks themselves have to be selected..... with A+ you just point to a folder and bingo everything is loaded. Its a lot of money for all of these execution problems. Sound is fine........ Victor
