  1. Welcome to my audio space. Source: Apple Mac Mini Late 2012 running Bootcamp Windows 8.1 Audio Player: JRiver 19. USB-Audio: DEQX XS-1 USB to I2S convertor. Pre-amplifier: DEQX HDP-4. Digital Crossover: DEQX HDP-4 x 2 for 4 way crossovers. Power Amplifiers: Tweeter: Cymar Single-ended 6L6 Tube amplifier 6 watts. Midrange: DEQX HDA-1 (prototype) no feedback linear power amplifier 70w. Mid / Bass: DEQX HAD-1 (prototype) no feedback linear power amplifier 70w. Bass: PowerPhysics Class D 500w. Speakers: Custom built active 4 way system using drivers from ScanSpeak, Seas. Tweeter: Scanspeak Illuminator Beryllium Dome. Midrange: Eton Symphony 3" Mid / Bass: SEAS Prestige 7" Aluminum Cone Woofer. Bass: NHT XDS 10” Aluminum Cone Woofer 2 per channel in own cabinet. Interconnects: USB: Locus Analog Interconnects: Custom 75ohm serial digital coax for all analog signals. Speaker: QED XTC 6 x 3m runs fitted with Airloc Banana plugs. Cymar single-ended 6L6 2 DEQX HDP-4 for the 4 way active crossovers and room correction. My digital music library is mostly jazz - rock and currently has 125279 Flac or better audio files JRiver listed that at 77years to complete the full play list. The sound quality is sublime with amazing resolution that is ruthless to poorly mastered recordings. Dynamic range is large with a very wide sound stage while at the same time very sweet with silky smooth treble. The imagining is very 3D and instruments float is space and betters the speed of any electrostatic speakers I've heard to date. The octave smoothed in-room response looks like this. Measurement taken using iPad's built-in microphone and could be the reason the highs are down a few db. Cheers, Alan
  2. Mitch, Thanks, for the detailed walk through. my question is do you know the latency of the FIR processing? not sure this would be compatible with video based sources. while most of our time is 2 channel audio only where latency is not an issue we often use digital TV where lip-sync would be an issue. thanks, Alan
  3. Simple reason SACD was never a success is before it was SACD (DSD) it was PCM and every record company could see no reason to release another version of PCM based software. PCM rules!
  4. Custom design 4 way fully DSP active crossovers. x-over 4.2k > power amplifier 6 watt class A tubes (6L6) x-over 800Hz - 4.2k power amplifier 30 watt Push / Pull tubes (EL34) x-over 100Hz - 800Hz power amplifier zero feedback A/B transistor x-over 100Hz < amplifier linear power supply class D all crossovers greater than 60dB/Oct and linear phase. room correction only below 100Hz. most common comments about the sound are, Awesome detail. You could hear everything that you’d imagine would be in the recording. Outstanding resolution/separation. No worries there about things being meshed up. Every layer of the mix is clearly defined and separated. Incredible dynamics. Small 3-inch Mid and 7-inch Mid / Bass drivers… really? Massive. Apparent distortion or non-linearity would seem to be zero.
  5. 4 way fully active 2 x DEQX HDP-4 Digital DSP crossovers. Mac Mini, Sonicweld USB SPDIF. Only 2 channels of the Emotiva 7 channel amplifier are used to drive the tweeters while looking for a pair of 300B tube amps.
