  1. I am not jumping ship from Tidal HiFi, as I pay $5.00 per month via the Tidal deal for Third Man Records 'Vault' subscribers. I do worry, though, that Amazon HD Music could put Tidal and Qobuz out of business, and then Amazon would be in position to raise prices to $20.00 per month (or more).
  2. You might want to update to the latest Mac version, which at last check is 3.5.9. I have no idea if doing so would fix your Qobuz streaming issue, but it seems like it might be worth a try.
  3. Just installed A+ v.3.5.1 for Mac and the glitches on TIDAL MQA track transitions seem to be way down from v3.2.15. I need to do more streaming to be certain, but preliminary results are encouraging.
  4. The worst glitches I experienced with Audirvana Plus v3 occurred when playing MQA tracks on TIDAL. As best as I could tell, the CPU spikes each time the track changed were what caused the glitches/dropouts.
  5. I experienced dropout glitches using Audirvana on my mid-2012 MacBook Pro with a Core i5 processor, 16GB of RAM and a 1TB Samsung SSD. I posted about it here and did not receive any responses. Other audio programs run fine on this MBP. It was disappointing, as Audirvana sounds great when it isn't glitching out.
  6. HI, I am running the latest version of Audirvana+ v3 for Mac (v3.2.15) on a mid-2012 MacBook Pro with macOS High Sierra v10.13.6, a 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 processor, 16 GB of RAM, and a Samsung 1TB SSD. I am using Audirvana to stream TIDAL HiFi "Masters" MQA files to my Melco N1Z (Mk. 1) via WiFi. At the beginning of virtually every MQA track, there is a massive CPU spike of 100% to 200%+ that causes the music to stop for several seconds. After the CPU spike dies down, the music returns to normal. I am guessing these CPU spikes are caused by the 'unfolding' of the MQA tracks from, say, 24/44.1 to 24/88.2 or from 24/48 to 24/96. I get that the MQA unfolding process will cause a CPU hit, and I know I am not running a cutting edge processor, but these CPU spikes seem grossly excessive. Is there anything I can do to minimize this issue short of getting a new computer? Thanks.
  7. Thanks, guys! Mark, are you comparing the Matrix/LPS-1.2 combo to the Matrix with a different external PSU, or to the Matrix on USB power?
  8. I am considering adding an LPS 1.2 to my system to power a digital-to-digital converter (Matrix X-SPDIF 2) and am wondering if I am likely to realize a meaningful sonic improvement. Here is my current digital front end: I have a Melco N1Z (Mk. 1) feeding the Matrix X-SPDIF 2 via USB. The Matrix, which is powered by an iFi iPower 5v PSU currently, is feeding a PS Audio DirectStream Sr. DAC via I2S (hdmi). Everything is plugged into a Bryston BIT20 Power Conditioner. The LPS 1.2 would replace the iFi iPower for powering the Matrix. I am very happy with the sound currently, but I recall hearing a noticeable improvement when I added the iFi iPower to the Matrix (previously, the Matrix was running off of USB power from the Melco). This causes me to wonder whether a better PSU could up the ante even further. OTOH, the Bryston BIT20 is supplying the entire system with clean/isolated AC, which could minimize any differences between PSU's powering the Matrix. Does anyone have experience with adding an LPS 1.2 into an analogous configuration? If so, how did it affect the sound? Thanks in advance.
  9. Thanks. Do you mean the "MAC Download" directly to the right of v5.30C that looks like this? If so, I found that and downloaded and unzipped it yesterday, but it would not launch on my MacBook Pro (mid-2012 running the latest version of HIgh Sierra). I assumed that that download is the new v5.30C firmware, and that the macOS firmware update program is a separate download, which I was not able to locate. If they are one and the same, I am not sure how to launch/install the update program. Thanks.
  10. Hi, I would like to update my ifi iDSD micro DAC from firmware v5.30 to v5.30C using my MacBook Pro, but I cannot find the "macOS firmware update program" referenced in Step 3 of this link: https://ifi-audio.com/downloads/. It seems to have disappeared from the ifi Downloads page. Could someone please post the macOS firmware update program here or at the ifi Downloads page? Thanks very much.
  11. I think a good middle ground is simply removing the Ethernet cable from the Bridge II when it is not being used. IIRC, Ted Smith suggested this on the PS Audio Forum.
  12. A+ and the Bridge II network card inside my PS Audio DirectStream Sr. DAC do not play well together. My guess is that the same issues would come up with the Jr.
  13. Are you connecting to the DS via USB, or are you trying to send data to a Bridge II? If the latter, I would say, don't bother. Audirvana v3 and the Bridge II do not play well together, as I discovered after many hours of frustration.
  14. In that price range, I would take a serious look at the PS Audio Stellar Gain Cell DAC: https://www.psaudio.com/products/stellar-gain-cell-dac/ No affiliation with PS Audio, other than that I am a happy owner of several of their products.
