  1. I'm pretty good with soldering and taking things apart but I'd rather not have to. I will have to look over these suggestions a little more. Thanks guys.
  2. Hello everyone thank you so much for your replys. I've been dying to buy some Audeze LCD 2s so I think I will buy them first and look over these suggestions.
  3. I'll probably just buy the cable and the ends and do it myself. Thats why I wanted to know what was easier plus I'd like to be able to turn it back if I don't like it. I like the Neutrik mini 4 pin cables because I have used them before for other things so i am familiar with them. Probably with some bulk ALO or Moon Audio Cable.
  4. Thanks for your reply. I didn't know about ALO Audio before. I will check them out. I checked the weight of some other headphones and they were about the same weight or heavier and I didn't run into any problem in the searches although I sure someone has a problem. So maybe the Audeze aren't so heavy after all. THanks Rich
  5. Hello, I was wondering if someone could recommend me a set of headphones that can be converted to balanced easily and cost around 700$ I'm pretty savvy with soldering and such so that isn't a problem if I have to make my own cables. I was thinking about Audeze LCD-2 because I like the look but many people say that they are too heavy. I'm thinking about getting a Schiit Mjolnir and Gungnir balanced amp/dac but I would need balanced headphones to go with them. Thanks have a great day, Rich
  6. Thanks bikemig, I just did a search for dac fixed output and found a few posts where they say that generally the Line Out is a fixed volume and the Pre out is variable based on the volume knob I'm looking at the Shiit products and also the teac ud-501 (but it won't accept 192k on optical but will upsample). I might save some more money and go with a Teac UD-501 and an Teac HA-501.
  7. What do you guys think about a Schiit Gungnir and a Lyr. I would get the Mjolnir but I don't have any balanced headphones yet.
  8. I'm looking for something like this where there are two volume knobs. I suppose I could just buy this but I'm not sure about sound quality or build quality. I would like to get this type of thing going with gear from someone who makes audio gear rather than a motherboard company.
  9. I'm using the Quincy Jones AKGs right now. And BX5a Speakers. These are things that I have left over from when I was into music production.
  10. Hello, I read a previous thread where someone asked about getting a DAC and the people on this forum were very nice to them and I decided to ask a question of my own. Anyway, I'm looking for a DAC / Headphone AMP combination but my OCD would like them to look good together. My budget is about $1k combined. Although a little higher for what I want is acceptable. I will be using this with the output of my pc through optical spdif. Will I be able to support 192k from this source? I'd also like 192k upsampling. I'm thinking about getting a separate headphone amp because I hate having to adjust the volume when I plug in my headphones and then adjust it down everytime. I'm aslo using two studio monitors for my speakers and they have xlr inputs so I would like the DAC to have a volume control and xlr outs with a volume control and maybe a way to select the output (headphone out or xlr). I'm thinking about the Shiit Bitfrost and Valhalla. But the Bitfrost doesn't have any volume control. The Gungnir has the xlr but no volume still. cliffs: DAC / Headphone amp prefferably small as it will be under my monitor on my desk. same style possibly same manufacturer 192 upsampling spdif optical in ( possibly more than one ) separate volume control for headphones Any help would be generously accepted Thanks, Rich
