  1. Thanks, So the Lumin L1 looks like what I'm after. I like my DAC and am keeping it
  2. Not sure if I'm capable of "building" my own successfully. Any suggestions on a ready to play purpose built unit with built in storage? The Aurender units look like what I'm after, but are really expensive.
  3. Thanks, I was wondering if they actually sounded better, or if it was more for convenience and a dedicated control app.
  4. I'm currently using a PS Audio Direct Stream DAC with the Bridge II card and controlled by JRiver. The Bridge card sounded slightly better than feeding it with the Auralic Aires through the USB. The Audio system is fed by a Ethernet cable that is connected to the router/modem at my desktop computer that is located in a spare room. What I would like to accomplish is to make my music system independent from the desktop computer, so I'm looking for either a mini computer like a NUC or Mac Mini, or a purpose built music streamer similar to the Aurender products. I would still like to be able to connect to the desktop in some way for backups and streaming. I would prefer something with an Ethernet output so I can continue to use the Bridge card (but it's not a deal breaker). I realize a purpose built streamer like Aurender would be the easiest to connect and configure, but do they sound better than a mini computer? There is quite a price difference.
  5. Hang on, it's not just Audirvana, it seems to be a Mac thing. Tried another DAC, tried my Mac laptop, no DSD. Tried JRiver, same problem. Moved DAC to the main system with an Auralic Aires streamer and DSD works there (being fed from the same hard drive too). It's now looking like something with the Mac software? OS X 10.11.3
  6. I just realized that I no longer get DSF files to play on Audirvana 2.3.3. Using a PS Audio NuWave DSD Dac. Every other file type works and these file will play with JRiver, but the DSD light is not coming on at the DAC. Did something change in the last software revision?
  7. Thanks. I tried that in the past and it didn't work. Today, repeated taps on the Sorting button finally got me to the next page where i was able to re-sort.
  8. When using the Lightning DS on an Android, is there a way to change the sort order? All my albums are sorted z-a and it needs to be a-z. I hit something once and the order changed and I can't get it back. Thanks
  9. Speaking of Logitech.... I just discovered the Logitech Media Server was still running and that was the cause of me not being able to get JRiver to work. I'd left it on as I have one of their radios in my garage. Once I shut that server off, JRiver and the Jremote app began working.
  10. Update worked fine. Still cannot get JRiver to work. Same problem as before.... I see the JRiver library as a choice, I select it, then when I exit the settings, it says there is no music in the library. Going back into the settings, the library choice is greyed out. Aries never appears as a renderer in JRiver. If I switch to Linn Kinsky, it sees the library and can use it. DS works ok, but I would really like to use JRemote again. There is much more info on it and the text is big enough to see (hint hint Auralic). Mac OS 10.10.2. Wired or Wifi, Upnp or Open Home, does not matter where I set these, it's the same behavior.
