The Nano BL would be a good choice. I have the old silver and the new BL and it is much better than the old silver version with more headphone power and a sound signature that I prefer even over the older micro iDSD>

A pure digital audio transport with no DAC/AMP that is portable may be a good idea. What about using your cell phone with a OTG like interface? Normally I use a flash drive for my car music system.

One time I think that IFI may try to add a turntable for the Retro.

I have the Retro 50 and using it with the Gemini USB Cable which makes quite a bit of improvement to the sound. The audio-GD units that I have do not benefit from the Gemini USB Cable maybe because the 5v is not used and not connected internally to the Audio-GD units. There are many fine products that do not get much publicity. As long I enjoy mine, it is not a popularity contest.

I doubt that I have any music recorded that has any musical signals anyway near 60kHz. I do not see the point of this exercise to inject a 60kHz signal.

Sorry to disagree with you. I stand by what I said. All the wires on a good USB cable are open and the computer has no way of telling there is a USB cable until the other end is connected. All the posts I read so far on Apple forums points to a short in the cable. I did read that if a user has an add-in usb card installed that card could cause a over-current due to incapability of the add-in USB driver with the updated OS.

That is a separate issue. With Chris situation he disconnected then USB cable from the DAC and the computer should not even be aware of the USB cable at all. Since he was still getting current overload which tell me there is a issue with the cable at the computer end. Without any connection at the other end there can not be any current flowing at all and no signal can be pass thru. It it is some kind of a physical issue nothing to do with software.

Sounds like a short in the cable. It is more likely at the connections at cable ends.

Looks like I have no issue in telling the differences between the files. Now I know what to listen for. C has a deeper soundstage than D and D was more harsh to my ears. A has the deeper soundstage but a bit more vibrato quality to it than B.

Noticed that track C has a bigger soundstage. No sure it means less jitter.

One thing about the Henry Audio USB DAC is that you have to press the program button each time you wanted a sampling rate higher than 48K
