I beg to differ. Music that is sample heavy sounds far better with different mastering. I own several sample heavy records that exhibit this concretely (Daft Punk, Dead Prez, Mos Def, the Roots, Faith No More, M.I.A., OutKast). I love records with sampling because the samples stick out considerably when reproduced well.
Poser perhaps, politics I don't agree with either. But I still love this record.
Samples pay direct homage to the original recording/artist because it's clearly not part of the new recording that surrounds it.
How many kids genuinely thought "Behind Blue Eyes" was a Limp Bizkit song.... If they'd sampled the original instead of remaking it the world would be a better place.
