  1. Nope, it's here: DVD-Audio Decoder and Watermark Detector
  2. Foobar2000 player with the DVD-Audio Decoder plugin works under Windows 7.
  3. Some Sony PS3 had DVD drives with PSP decoders onboard, but I'm not aware of any other ones.
  4. Is NGDecoder the decompressor for this? NightinGale decoder, doesn't that sound nice...
  5. And meaning of MQB data for the renderer? Besides flushing blue/green lights on output device:) Isn't that why you've started speaking about DRM schemes in MQA?
  6. MQA impress has been mentioned a bit too much here and there. But software decoder also contains references to MQB (like MQB mark, MQB audio type, MQB sync packet). So, what the devil's mark is MQB?
  7. Unfortunately, this discussion doesn't make much sense. Does anybody remember what MLP/TrueHD is? Now it's open source and part of FFmpeg project. And MQA is not going to diverge very much. "Steal and do better" is a kind of engineering's law, and not what IP layers say. So, give things to go...
  8. BluOS must be a good source for inspiration then Though ARM coded...
  9. Thank you! A good add to the DST source code.
  10. I never saw this 30 page spec, only read DST encoder sources. That made an impression that the most complicated part of algorithm is the actual packing of compressed data into DST stream. If you could give me a link to this DST spec I would appreciate a lot.
  11. In this situation of DST decoding on-the-fly you just trade approximately 2x compression ratio for high CPU load. In the case of big DSD collection it surely could save a lot of disk space. But I would prefer to use DST only when it is a necessity. Like playing back SACD ISOs.
  12. I wouldn't agree about complexity in algorithmic sense. It's kind of "traditional" FIR filter prediction plus arithmetic encoding of residuals. The actual problem is in performance because DST tries to predict each bit of the DST stream. And at high DSD samplerates it is the hard job even for modern CPUs. Just like doing a dozen line SDM gives a performance issue. I probably do DST encoder as well, but I don't see where it can be used.
  13. According to that document Yamaha definitely does direct DSD playback. Interesting, who is the first to add DoP option to mainstream range receivers... Onkyo-Onkyo, where are you?
  14. While we don't exactly know what he means under "without"... any method (at least for me) inherently infers this conversion.
