  1. But set a resolution standard in the search parameter settings that is no less than 250-300k. It's what I do.
  2. I have a macbook pro (for itunes), streams to an Airport Extreme Base Station, finds the 1.5 TB drive attached to the said Station, ethernet cable to my ATV, AQ Optilink 3 cable to DAC......etc...... Works very well, plus my 1.5 TB HD isn't attached to my laptop like a leach anymore. Hope this helps somewhat.
  3. Glad that fixed the problem, at least for now. I know that kind of issue can drive a person insane. I was going to offer some suggestions too, but alas. Happy listening.
  4. A Larger Remote app would be great, also the ability to use it as a universal remote to control AV equipment (via apps obf course), I agree with Eloise, it may seem strange at the beginning, but couldn't the same be said about Computer based audio systems? Look where that is now, in the driving seat. The wife likes it, she's usually right about things. Anywho.... there's my two-pence.
  5. As long as the room correction is not digital, and more like acoustic panels or other room treatments, bass traps et al. Then yes, it's a cheaper upgrade to fix your room acoustics, and optimize speaker positioning. Tell me, do the wives, girlfriends (husbands, or boyfriends) of fellow audiophiles think that this obsession we all share is just a little bit strange? In I go from personal experience, where I do need to be careful, making sure things have the WAF. Excuse the side note on WAF. As ever Chris, thanks for the hard work in making this exchange of knowledge accessible to us.
  6. Forgive me here, but there is something about altering the original recording to make up for room inadequacies, that just rubs me the wrong way. With the help of Computer based music we have taken away the physical medium, also (to some degree) any transport issues, so we have a really "Clean" music file, then we want to mud that up with room correction? We'll be having a "More Cowbell" button soon if we go this route. Just my two-cents, that's all.
  7. I'm not sure who asked for the link to VOX, but here it is: http://www.voxapp.uni.cc/ I like it when I use my laptop instead of AppleTV.
  8. I use VOX, Play, and Pure Vinyl. I prefer the simplicity and look of VOX. Most of my listening is done through Apple TV however. Hope this helps.
  9. ATV has made the experience very easy, I am looking into the Linn DS line myself, but even though quite savvy with computers, networks etc... am not looking forward to have to fight my front end a little to get the sound I need. Linns' DS line isn't very user friendly, Have you looked into NAIM Uniti? I have heard the DAC is really impressive. May I ask what "TP" is?
  10. I don't think there is such an item available, I have an ATV, and yes it's not exactly in the realm of Audiophile Nirvana, but I think all other options (unless I'm mistaken) are either a Transport-DAC combo (Linn DS style) feeding from a NAS, or personal computer (with operating system of choice) either networked to a NAS, or files stored internally. Btw - I wouldn't say the Linn DS is of lower quality, however I have been told by my Linn dealer that Ayre or Wavelength are doing amazing things right now.
  11. This may be a pain in the butt, but can you try plugging your equipment into other receptacles in another part of the house. I had similar problems with my electricity, I had issues with my main fuse box, I wasn't getting full power. I'd get it looked at though.
  12. I don't know what to say, I'm not upset or anything, I just wanted say that every audio manufacturer, in fact all manufacturers want to sell their wares, sometimes rounding the corners of truth, it helps sell stuff. I was just treating the words I read as such that's all. Hope this clarifies my point a little. Definitely not a sales person, way too stressful, making quotas etc, not my cuppa-tea. My hat is off to those who make ends meet that way. I'll have to read the article again, having two toddlers always seems to erase ones memory a little.

  14. I believe it only uses a Cat5 or Cat6 (ethernet) to hook up to the Music server or ____ of choice. Which does raise the interesting question that "Keyseroze123" brought to my attention: "would the sound quality still be unaffected by the computer used?" I don't know, I would like to think that Linn thought of that, I would hate to hear a Homer Simpson "Doh!!!" from Bonnie Scotland. Surely they thought of that......surely....... Maybe, Toslink, DigiCoax, weren't chosen because technically they are not used in the computer realm to transfer data? I don't know, that's why I like this website, one can get answers, from pretty smart people. It's like my nerdy Computer-Audio library
  15. No computer needed, files are pulled from a NAS, the Linn graphic user interface (sorry, had a tech say "gooey" all the time, now I can't write it) isn't very good I hear, and a bit of a pain to set up. Sound is pretty good I guess. Jk
