  1. If I remember correctly, all new USB devices that I have connected to my Windows PC will pop up with a dialog box stating that it is "installing new device" and then reporting if it was installed correctly or if it cannot find the driver. (If it fails, it'll appear as "unknown device" in your Device Manager.) If nothing like that is happening, then like One and a half said, sounds like your Yggy USB port is at fault. It happens sometimes. Even the most reliable companies with topnotch Q/C programs in place can't guarantee a perfect product when shipping is involved. Give Schitt a call, they'll be more than happy to take care of you.
  2. Yes...my bad...I'll see if I can edit it. Thanks for the heads up! OOPS ...too late. All the same, great app.
  3. For those using Android phones, I can easily recommend "Fling" for a network sniffer app. It displays IP address, MAC address and manufacturer's name of each device connected to your router. (both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, via a menu toggle) Using a web browser, I pulled up my router page and entered my "reserve" IP/MAC information for about 15 devices in less than 10 minutes. I had to do this a couple of years ago to fix network printer issue. It was very easy. edit: I forgot to mention, quite a few routers already show the IP address and MAC address of connected devices, so you may be able to get by without the smartphone app. YMMV so check your router mfg. website for info.
  4. LOL ...I had a feeling that that information was going to start the troops salivating. By the by, this may be a little too much OT, but I wonder how the Oppo, Pioneer ripping solution is affecting the SACD market. I personally have already expedited the purchase of 2 SACDs that were on my long term wishlist. I would be willing to speculate that SACD sales have, (or will soon) be rising.
  5. I would not recommend the y-connectors as a good solution. There's some information available via Google as to why this is a bad idea. I don't have a better idea for you, sorry. But I do own an Echo Dot and currently have it hooked up to my preamp's "Media Player" input. I have Zone 2 set for my patio, so my wife and kids can listen to Amazon music stations while swimming and sunning and I can still watch TV or listen to my own music in the living room. Having separate inputs for music sources, allows me those options. Good luck with your solution.
  6. I don't know if my opinion is shared much by anyone else, but I'd like to say one thing that has really been bugging me about the General Forum at CA lately. "Computer Audiophile" - It means a very finite thing to me. It's why I came here in the first place. I'd like to get back to reading about that stuff everyday again, like I used to before "The Schism".
  7. Outstanding! Great to hear that it worked out so well. "Sometimes in life, it's the simple things..."
  8. Funny, I've also regulated my desktop interface needs to a Roland VS-100. Love Roland equipment. Great choice! Hope it fulfills all your expectations.
  9. Probably a good idea to give up on the 1212m. As good as this interface was, I got rid of mine...geez...has to have been like 8-9 years ago. Support has to have dwindled down to nothing by now. USB interfaces are much easier to get up and running now days. There's good driver support for most of the newer gear and with all choices available, you shouldn't have any problem finding a decent interface to fulfill your needs. Good luck with your research and and best wishes on your purchase.
  10. Great article Ted. I had recently purchased the Qute EX and am currently revisiting my entire playlist with awe at what a high quality DAC can do with this music. After over a year of researching various products within my limited budget, I ended up purchasing the Qute EX thanks in part to your ongoing reviews and forum contributions on several DACs I was considering. Please accept my thanks and a very sincere "keep up the great work"!
  11. I was just about to skip this review, till I saw Mr. Brady's name on the marquee. I've always enjoyed your contributions here on CA. So from a long time lurker - Kudos! I found your review informative and entertaining. Excellent work!
  12. Thanks for the video, Chris! I'm looking forward to seeing regular installments like this in the future. Great work!
  13. Nevermind - Found the problem. In JRMC under Media Network options, Authentication must be set to "on". Once I did that and set JRemote to use the new server credentials, it worked like a charm.
  14. Great App! Very polished...love it. One question though concerning the update: I assumed that with metatag editing enabled, that the rating function would be enabled as well. So far, I have not been able to set ratings from JRemote, (changes aren't being saved). Is this due to a setting in JRiver I need to enable? Or is this something I need to wait on during JRemote developement? Thanks for the help.
