  1. Just to clarify this was in response to Sonis saying I was angry because he/she thought I disagree with his/her review after me calling the review a travesty. My and his/her posts were deleted by someone who could. I have made two requests the last few days to have my account deleted with nothing happening. Go figure.
  2. I don't disagree with the review. I have never listened to any Audeze headphones and probably never will. It's the premise of and facts in your review that have a million wrongs. And if you (and more importantly Chris) can't see that I don't want to be a number in this site's list of subscribers.
  3. Many thanks! Upgraded to 7.9 and even got DSD working. Sounds great!
  4. Enjoying the EDO Touch through USB right now. Best I've heard the USB input of the DAC and very, very good period. The Sbooster may or may not do anything but I have it so I use it. Found Squeezer for Android for control point. Are there better ones out there? Also, I get notified about newer versions of LMS (mac) but seem to remember upgrading forces an update of the Touch firmware with removal of the EDO mod. Any advice?
  5. The edo mod brings more than usb out, hence the question. Like 24/192 through s/pdif. But I agree usb out is the biggie. The linear psu is not for the dac but for the Touch itself. Maybe I'll dig out the touch and hear how it compares with my current streamer just for fun.
  6. Do you connect the Touch to the dac via USB or S/Pdif? I have an edo-modded Touch and a 5v SBooster PSU that I haven't used for years.
  7. Thanks for the review! Did you give the AMP enough time to warm up and settle in? I've been using the AMP (and lately two AMPs in bridged mode) for quite a while and I have never experienced another amplifier that benefits as much from a long burn-in period as this one. It sounded harsch, forward and somewhat anemic out of the box but gradually improved over a long period of use. And it really needs to be powered up from stand-by quite some time before sounding its best (which is of course a pity given the small foot print of class D amps was part of the reason the AMP interested me). Just 2 cents from 1 owner.
  8. Really? If true that's worrying for Mytek, not least because the USB input of my Brooklyn is a bit disappointing, at least connected directly to a Mac Mini. My external streamer through AES/EBU sounds better. Who will buy this thing if they haven't got the streaming part to sound as good as anything external?
  9. I have used different Squeezeboxes, the latest being an EDO-modded Touch through USB, plus various computers through USB with and without various s/pdif interfaces. So far nothing have been able to reach the sq of the Moon MiND 180 through AES/EBU and with the original 12v SBooster. Curious about the ultraRendu though, but can't really find any fault with the MiND. Good control app too.
  10. Mytek has announced an updated Brooklyn DAC+ preamp/DAC with network capabilities. https://mytekdigital.com/hifi/products/brooklyn-bridge/
  11. No mention of Mytek's Brooklyn AMP yet? Been using them, in mono configuration, for a while and like them. The lack of coloration was something that struck me from the beginning (or rather after a quite hefty burn-in period). The AMPs don't even try to smooth things over with bad recordings/mastering or in any way "sweeten" the sound. It took a while to get used to this characteristic but now I really appreciate it. Whether or not this quality has do do with the class D thing I don't know and it doesn't matter. They sound great, period. Part of my decision to try out a class D amp was the small foot-print thing. Don't really know if this was valid though, since the AMPs get quite hot and in my experience like to be powered on all the time to sound their best.
  12. As I wrote earlier, Foobar reads MKV-files (ripped by MakeMKV in my case) and lets you convert each chapter (track) to flac or wav or whatever. Use the Discogs tagger plug in and things become even easier!
  13. The difference between uncompressed flac and level 5 flac should average around 30-40 percent. You shure the files you have are uncompressed and not level 0 compression? Uncompressed flac files are actually marginally larger than the original wav files beacause of the added chunk that stores metadata. Fwiw, I convert my level 8 flac files to 320 kbit/s AAC files for use with my Android phone (128 GB card). Sounds good and saves quite a lot of space even compared with flac 8.
  14. This is exciting news! Been holding off upgrading from my Brooklyn DAC (-) since I've had a feeling something like this was on its way. Absolutely love the Brooklyn DAC and AMP with my network streamer through AES, but if the Brooklyn Bridge's built in streamer is good and the analog volume control is still there I will definitely upgrade. Here's hoping they have upgraded the USB input too. It's the one obvious weakness of the DAC IMO.
  15. I installed the trial version on my W10 machine yesterday and things look (and sound) promising! Works both with USB directly to the Dac and via my streamer. Will evaluate the SQ compared with J River and Foobar (with the upnp plugin that basically seems to to what A+ does) this weekend. Two issues that have been mentioned before but don’t seem to have been addressed though: 1 1. It doesn’t seem to be possible to view the library based on the album artist tag instead of artist. This is possible with A+ 2.x that I use on my Mac. 2. In the library view A+ doesn’t show album art based on folder.jpg. I don’t have, and don’t want to have, album art embedded in the files. In this case A+ only shows the folder.jpg album art in the small “playing now” area once an album is playing. Both these issues make the experience flawed for me and I will not go ahead and purchase the Windows version before knowing they will be addressed pretty soon. Hope they will! Keep up the good work!
