  1. After 1st boot up from pendrive you will have to install your drivers/software you need. They will be stored on your stick with W8. JD's W8 already has fidelizer, foobar and JRiver trial, you will need to activate it with your own key.
  2. I have been asked via PM's to write up detailed procedure for 'Other User' issue as it seems that for some forum members not familiar with W8 it's not clear. I tried my best and result can be seen below. 1. Boot up your computer usual way and log in. Your Windows account should have 'administrator' privileges. 2. Connect your memory stick with John's W8 and check what letter assigned to it. Let's assume it is 'w' 3. Enable file extensions in Folder options. For this go to 'Control Panel', type in search 'folder options', click it, click 'view' tab, un-tick 'hide extensions for known files', click 'apply' - 'ok' 4. open "command prompt (admin)". for this move your mouse pointer to bottom left and right click on popped-up 'start' menu. Click on "command prompt (admin)". 5. enter in command prompt window 'takeown /f W:\Windows\System32\utilman.exe' 6. enter in command prompt 'takeown /f W:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe' 7. Open File Explorer and locate utilman.exe on your memory stick, for this go to w:\windows\system32\. Right click the file, click 'properties', select 'security' tab, click 'edit', now tick all little squares which listed under 'allow' column, click ok - ok. 8. Right click on file utilman.exe and rename it to 'utilman.old'. 9. Repeat p.7 steps for file cmd.exe on your memory stick, the file is in w:\windows\system32\ 10. Go back to command prompt window and enter 'w:' 11. Enter 'cd \windows\system32' 12. enter 'copy cmd.exe utilman.exe' 13. Now open 'file explorer' and go to utilman.exe on your memory stick. When you double click it CMD window should open which will confirm that you did everything correctly. 14. Close all windows and reboot your laptop from memory stick. 15. On Win-2-go Login Screen, click "ease of access" button on the bottom left. CMD window should open. 16. Enter "net user Administrator password /add" 17. Enter "net user Administrator /active:yes" 18. Now you should be able to log in with username "Administrator" and password "password".
  3. Would you mind sharing how to exactly do win2go on usb stick.

I have tried and can't do it.

    Thank you

  4. Gents, I managed to overcome 'other user' issue in slightly different way than proposed by John. I assume that his procedure can be used when you install his audiophile W8 on HDD/SSD. With memory stick I did it differently and without WinRE x64 (Recovery Environment). I have used laptop with Win 8 pro. 1. Log in as administrator. 2. Connect your memory stick with John's W8. Enable file extensions in Folder options. 3. open "command prompt (admin)". 4. enter “takeown /f <filename>” (Replace the text <filename> with the full path of the utilman.exe and then cmd.exe which located in \windows\system32 on your memory stick NOT on your C: drive! 5. Locate utilman.exe on your memory stick and right click it, then click 'security' tab and enable Full Control by editing permissions. Do same with cmd.exe on your memory stick. 6. Right click on utilman.exe on your memory stick and rename it to utilman.old 7. Enter "x:" (x: is a letter of your memory stick assigned by PC). Enter "cd \windows\system32" Enter "copy cmd.exe utilman.exe" Reboot the machine 8. On the windows 8 Login Screen, click "easy access" button on the bottom left An administrative command prompt opens up 9. Enter "net user Administrator password /add" 10. Enter "net user administrator /active:yes" 11. Now you can log in with username "Administrator" with the password "password".
  5. Hello John, I have installed your audiophile W8 on USB stick from ASUS laptop with W8 Pro. When I try to boot from USB stick I'm having this 'Other User' issue. For overcoming it I tried to follow your instructions and burned WinRE x64 (Recovery Environment) on DVD. Then I tried to boot from this DVD but laptop was not booting up. In fact laptop was reading files from DVD and white stripe was running the bottom of the screen with phrase that files are loading, then green square boxes start to appear in the top of the screen indicating the progress of something but suddenly laptop switches off. I suspect that your instructions are applicable when your audiophile W8 installed on HDD. Am I right? If yes, then how can I overcome my problem with W8-to-go on memory stick?
