Whilst the Brisbane metro region has a population of some 2 million it is still a big country town in many ways. We do have access to Amazon but I am a bit impatient and couldn't wait for a cable to be shipped from the US or UK.

Well after searching hi and low in Brisbane and drawing blanks at every turn I have managed to track down a Chord Opticord in Melbourne. I was quite surprised that none of the local hifi / AV stores I spoke with stock and / or have access to this type of cable. Musicophile - I think an ipad will be the next purchase once the Mac is up and running.

Thanks Musicophile, I will be checking out what the local stores have on offer tomorrow. Putting this modest system together has really reignited my passion for music and I cant wait to get reaquainted with my 602's and back catalog of albums that have been neglected in recent years.

Thanks for your help Paul, this is my first Apple and as you can see I have a lot to learn!

Secondly, it has a couple of optical TOSLink inputs, and your Mac has a TOSLink optical output. You can hook that up with an inexpensive optical cable. Hi Paul - I think I am missing something - all I can see are 2 x usb + 1 x firewire + 1 x thunderbolt + ethernet?

Hi folks, I have recently decided to make the jump to a digital music system. I am a total noob and the site has been a fantastic source of information. I have ripped all my CD's into Apple lossless and downloaded Audirvana after seeing it had taken out CA's product of the year. I now have a new Mac Pro as my music server and my ARX720 receiver is wired up to B&W 602 S3's with Chord Carnival cables. I plan to use the receivers DAC's but I don't know what type of interconnect cable I should use from the MB to the receiver? The receiver has a USB Type A input (no Type B) and an Ethernet port. There are spare HDMI in's but the Mac does not have HDMI out. I am hoping to achieve the best sound quality I can ideally with the equipment I already have - your advice / recommendations wrt type and / or brand of interconnect cable to use would be much appreciated! Thanks, Ben
