  1. Well, some people find DSD more ''analogue'' in sound character. Personally I prefer to have the format that the mix/master was made in, but............ ? probably the DSD version sounds good too.
  2. Which other ''Keith Johnson engineered''albums do u recommend? I am very impressed with the sound of the Macleod album.
  3. Sometimes, that's true but I find Carmen Gomes is up there with the very best. And I do find that most of the big labels use way too much compression for my taste, and it is often very confusing to find out if it is i.e. a true Studio Master or an up sampled 16/44.
  4. hi Ted did you reed Rad Bennets SoundStage! review? He has the same remarks as you do.
  5. Somehow the link comes out as ''music store''. but it is the Sound Liaison link if you click on it.
  6. thank you! Does that means that there is no need for waw download files?
  7. and here is another reason just found it on google;Linn Forums Dear support, I did some tests on my Linn Akkurate regarding the (audio) quality of FLAC versus WAV. I used the FLAC a sa source file for the wav. I first played the FLAC file, and after the “unpacked” wav. What I noticed to my horror is that there is quite a significant difference in sound quality between the 2. The wav file sounds a lot clearer and shows the peaks and valeys in the sound a lot better and more defined than the FLAC file does. As I used the exact same input source location, and the exact same output equipment, the only place I can think this difference can come from is the Linn Akkurate itself. The difference would come from the fact that the Linn has to first unpack the FLAC file. on the wav there is no such action. Could you please enlighten me on the Linn codec for unpacking Flac? It seems that in this process, a lot of the original quality of the music is being lost. Is there anything that Linn (or me) could do to improve upon this situation? with kind regards, Arend
  8. it is not a BIG issue but if we want a true Studio Master, i.e. what the engineer is hearing, then I like to have a copy of the Wav file in the resolution that it has been made in and I dont know of anybody mixing in Flac. And since hard disk space is cheap nowadays, why go for less. But again of course maybe it does not really matter,if the conversion to flac or any other format, ogg vobis...etc,was done well,a great sounding recording should still sound great, but it is not the exact same sound that came out of the studio, but with a waw file you can actually get a one to one copy of the mix,and that I find intriguing.
  9. here is one that is clear about their formats, but flac only GubeMusic
  10. But are Hd tracks true Studio Masters? or resampled? I find their site a bit confusing in that regard,Wilson Pickett 1978 recording is of course a remaster,But is it from done from the multi track tapes or from an lp? Linn is Flac only. But are very clear abut when they resample. I still only see Sound Liaison offering 24/96 Waw files and true Studio Masters.
