  1. Perhaps I am posting in the wrong place, but I have a few questions that more seasoned audiophiles may be able to answer. My questions are about my mixer setup and recording with Ableton. I am a hip hop producer of many years, but I think I may have set up my studio incorrectly, or missing a key component. Bear with me. First off, my Delta 2496 goes to an open channel on my Yamaha MG102C. My SP-404SX takes another channel. My Condenser mic takes another. My monitors use the monitor outs, my surround sound speakers use the stereo outs, and the "Rec out" goes back into my audiophile (for recording purposes). With the exception of the monitors and surround sound speakers, this creates a loop from my sound card through the mixer and back. This presents a number of stupid problems that I want to learn how to solve. I run into loud and freaky audio loops if I turn real-time monitoring on in ableton due to the fact that the audio just races around in a circle through my mixer and back to the 2496. Would using a USB/FireWire interface help me solve this problem? At the moment, due to the fact that the whole mixer is routed back into the PC, I can't realistically monitor while recording with my setup, as everything is just being recorded right back into the PC. In order to record accurately and worry-free, AND allow for real-time monitoring, what should I do?
