I've been listening to Weiss MAN301 (mine is the non-dac version) and I´m simply loving. By far the best gear for people who want to get the best from their digital collection. Initially was listening over USB and the sound was great linked to my Puccini Uclock+Paganini DAC. When switching to AES output things really have improved. BUT finally when slaving my Paganini DAC from Man 301´s wclock output, I´ve been immediately blown away for such amazing improvement I had using It as a wordclock. Simply left my Puccini Uclock behind!!! The bass has become awesome, the sound got even more smooth and extremely perfect!! My B&W 801D are playing as they were twin 15" driver!!

Hello folks, I´ve got a good deal on a brand new BDR-XD04. Has anyone compared or checked It against Samsung SE-506? Which is the most reliable?? Will use mainly for CD-DAE and BD-DAE. -
Hi Mike I've already linked my Paganini DAC straightly to my amps and yes the 6V output worked like a charm without any distortion. BUT I still prefer using a preamp, the sound becomes clearely better, with amazing soundstage!! Obviously setting to 2V output when connecting to VTL 6.5. One thing I forgot mentioning was that I´ve been listening the songs through my laptop USB til my Weiss Man301 arrives and the songs from media player have already sounded a bit distorted and waaayy metalic since first time. So joining the two things probably made the tweeters break. Now I´ve decided to listen using my old humble DVD player as a transport connected via spdif to my Paganini DAC. The result, sound completely crystaline, and never fatiguing even at high levels!! But even using Pioneer DVD as transport still prefer setting 2V output on DAC. I will be testing soon an ARC REF5 SE and see what happens. Maybe I shall prefer ARC since It´s rated better gear than VTL 6.5.

Hi Folks I own B&W 801D speakers and have just upgraded my gears to new krell evo 600 amps, pre VTL 6.5 and dCs Paganini Dac. In the very first day noticed the sound very could and somekind fatiguing coming from my PC's USB to Puccini Uclock. Tried for more 2 days and despite It get a little better (probably due burnin of the gears) Ive lost one of the tweeters then after 2 days lost the other. Ive been listening these speakers for 5ys always at high levels hooked by a 200x2 integrated amp with a single cdplayer and never had this sadness. Well today came to my home the engineer from my dealer who has replaced the tweeters. He found the output level was set to 6v instead 2v on Paganini Dac and according to his opinion and what we heard the 6v out was pushing too much distortion on preamp input and he thinks this caused my tweeters death. Is that really possible ? I do notice they are playing effortless but I still fear this can happen again.

Hi Chris, Thanks for your prompt reply! In the case connecting MAN301 over ethernet to NAS (directly), would It be viewble by other people in the same network as MAN301 will be wirelessly linked to the nearest access point? Because my network is not fast enough (100mbps) I find more properly straight link MAN301 to NAS.

Hi This is my first post in this forum. Been following for a while this and looks very precious to me since I´m finishing my stereo system. Hope to get many good infos here as well contributing when possible. I´m just about to pay for this music network server. I´ve read many good things about It and will solve all my problems instead using a computer (I was leaning toward to get a Macpro). The only thing that is raising difficult to me is the NAS server and Its connectivity. I intend to connect It directly to MAN301 via firewire, but til now wasnt able to find a NAS featuring firewire 800. Would someone advise a NAS with that ability, which could be connected at same time to the router/switch via ethernet to get shared in the network? Also is that firewire 800 the best interface to link NAS in terms of audio performance?
