Does anyone know whether it's possible, or are there plans, for Linn to integrate HQPlayer NAA into the optional inputs? Thanks, Crom -
I was interested too...man those pi clocks are small to work with!! https://www.ebay.com/itm/284489296222 (apologies for off-topic post)

@blueninjasix this was mentioned a while back on The Register: https://rpilocator.com

I think they may mean a compute unit. I’m in similar boat as I have usbridge signature and want to upgrade to pi 4 compute with the adapter that’s available on Amazon…there seems to be a global shortage of the compute units in any configuration

Interesting - thanks for the info. Nice, I totally agree with you that power supply is the priority here! -

@jas - Interesting info, thank you for posting. Does this means that you connect your first ER to your LAN via RJ45 socket on the A side, come out the B-side with fibre and then into 2nd ER to the A-side using fibre and finally connect to your DAC using ethernet RJ45 on B-side (see image below...just to make sure we're talking about the same sides ;-) ) Just to add my findings here, I have 2 ERs. My connections go as follows: fibre > a-side > b-side > ethernet > a-side > b-side > ethernet > DAC. I have experimented with all sort of fibre convertors in the past but ER saw them off. In my mind 2 ERs do make an improvement but we are talking 'icing on the cake' territory in my system. I have also experimented with clocks and bought the aliexpress clock recommended elsewhere on this site. This originally clocked both ERs. Recently, I bought the afterdark ER clock and now use that to clock the ER nearest my DAC. All worth it in my book but again, icing on the cake improvements. -
Thanks @Miska and @Hoshi I now have Mac desktop running perfectly. Also, using the new control client and Qobuz has afforded me the best ever digital sound that my hifi has ever produced. Thanks very much for your hard work here Jussi! Votes please! https://community.roonlabs.com/t/option-to-replace-playback-engine-entirely-with-hqplayer/182473

Thanks Denis. I am indeed on Big Sur...I'll give that a whirl. Much appreciated!

Hi @Miska, I'm just trying to bug fix a new HQ Player install and could do with some help please. I've got HQPlayer nicely running under linux and windows but want to try it on my m1 Mac. I had a trial version of an old version of HQPlayer installed on the same Mac, which I removed. Today I downloaded the Mac ARM version (HQPlayer4Desktop-arm64-4151.dmg) and copied the desktop app to the applications folder. When I run it I get the usual trial dialogue but then the application exits immediately afterwards. I'm guessing that this could be because a) I've previously had a trial of an older version installed, b) I've installed the wrong version for my Mac, c) there is some crud left over from previous installation, d) something else... Can anyone tell me where logs are so I can take a look? Also where should I remove bits and pieces from the old install please? Any other ideas? Many thanks, Crom

Our home is the same. 1-1.3kW just to exist...must be all the NAS boxes in the basement! Thanks for a really interesting article @austinpop I was very apprehensive about the noise introduced into our home's circuit by 2 x inverters but the effect appears to have been negligable. I have not embarked on the battery journey yet and our first 'battery' purchase is likely to be an EV! I will follow your journey with interest!

30 years ago I used RCA, soon after DIN connections went out of fashion. Now I use XLR and I'm not going back. Entirely more suitable. For a 2nd opinion please refer to here:

Optical Network Configurations
Crom replied to jabbr's topic in Networking, Networked Audio, and Streaming
Apologies for the OT but if you are willing to share how you have configured your network/NAS to do this, it is a goal of mine but I haven't got arouund to investigating it yet. I have a NAS box with fibre out and also ethernet out and was considering how to dedicate the fibre to audio and use the ethernet for the rest of home. Thanks in advance. -

Thanks @bluesman for an illuminating and fascinating article. I can't wait to continue reading the series. In a past life I spent three months working as a tape op in a recording studio. I quit before getting the opportunity to do any real sound engineering ... I got bored making cups of coffee and finding drugs for rock 'stars' ... but this took me back - I should have pushed through. Good times. Thank you.
