  1. I'm having a similar issue with my PS3. After years and years of great use archiving SACD's, I recently pulled the machine out of storage to rip an newly acquired SACD. SACD ripper boots up fine, but gives the error message. "disc is empty or not recognized as SACD." I tried an older disc the was ripped on this same machine, still the get the message, "not recognized." Any ideas for a fix? Thank you
  2. Good advice Ted! I'll use the search and find out about blueray passkey and arcsoft for the higher Rez off BD Al
  3. There is a help guide in ted_b's SACD ripper guide 4.0 The fat32 format thumb won't take 4gb or larger, so two files are created. Use HJSplit to join them, then it is a usable ISO file. hope that helps, Al
  4. Thanks for confirming the issue with the disc, guys. Well, its another learning experience in the workings of the PS3. At least i know how to disassemble and put back together one of these. I vacumed and cleaned while it was apart im going to leave version 0.37 running unless i find more and important discs not recognized, then I'll try an earlier version. Again, thanks for the ideas and assistance. Al
  5. Out of process of elimination, I've found this one disc to lock up sacd-ripper and my PS3. All discs after this one, will not be recognized. A forced power down on the PS3 is then required. Upon restart, my other discs read as normal. Happily, more than 170 discs have worked without the error. Let the transcription project resume! Here's a link to the disc. Its a real letdown because there's some beautiful music on this sacd: PENTATONE | Al
  6. Hooray! Today version 0.37 is working after starting with a disc I ripped back in July, Elvis Costello North, now 2L's Mirror Canon. Progress shown same for disc and track so, if it goofs up again, I will try an earlier version of The Ripper. Thanks Syn!
  7. Hello Syn, Thanks for the ideas on trying an earlier ripper version. And to clarify, yes the disc read/not recognize error appears with all my discs, even those that wee previously ripped and archived. Ill send you a pm now. Anyone else run into and solve this problem? Al
  8. Hello Gentlemen For the last three months I've been happily running SACD ripper on my PS3. I have successfully backed up abot 150 discs. I usually do a run of three to four ISO files per heat cycle, using a thumb drive to bring the files to my windows silent PC and NAS for dsd/dsf extraction. This last Friday afternoon I had the " cannot read/do not recognize disc" error message come up. This after I noticed the progress bars not delineating track vs disc, showing the same for both disc and track after track 1, 100%. Now, in sacd-ripper, the disc initially gets scanned, but will not go forward with ripping, and is stuck in that error message not allowing me to turn off with the PS3 button, turn off system, confirm. In doing some research, I see that others have had similar if not the same problem. I took the box apart and cleaned the laser lens with isopropyl alcohol. Still no help. I know the disc mechanism does work because if i go to the music menu, it will read the disc, allowing playback in sacd 2ch, multi-ch, and cd hybrid layer. I reinstalled sacd-ripper v.37, still same error. Anyone with advice on how to get my PS3 ripper back up to speed? Thanks in advance, Albert
  9. Wow! That's a nice option! I may have to give that a shot. Do you have a super clean one, ready to ship? You can PM me, I'll get back to you right away. thanks, al
  10. Hello Felllow archivers and rippers, Live been lucky to find an early PS3 and use it to store to computer over 100 sacd ISO and dsf files. I've been hunting for a back up machine, but all four I found this weekend are OS 4.55 or 4.6. Any word if a later OS work around may be in the works? Thanks to Ted B and Mr. Ripper for making this possible, Alberto
  11. Hi Ted, thanks for the response. I think I need a little more detail. Like: 1) download the whole sacd ripper package and unzip on the desktop? 2) is this where the extract ISO via network.bat comes from? 3) where do I see the @echo off, the desktop? I'm not well versed in code and command lines. Thanks for understanding. Al
  12. Hello Gentlemen! This is my first post at CA and I would like to start off by thanking Mr. Wicked, Jesus, and Ted B for their hard work an awesome achievement in getting the PS3 to allow us to archive our SACDs! I've been collecting for a few years but had never purchased a dedicated high end player to hear this DSD format. Two weeks ago I got a windows based PC to play via USB native DSD files I extracted from my SACDs. The sound is incredible! So real and musical. I'm about 30 discs in but have many to go. To simplify, speed things up, and hopefully reduce wear and tear on my PS3, I'd love to get it to rip in server mode. I have CAT6 cables connecting PC, PS3, Synology 3TB NAS to a quality switcher. I've read the instructions and have sacdripper on the desktop, but can't find the Extract ISO via network.bat file(program?) i know now more than a few have accomplished this, any insights, details, and hints would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, and happy listening. Al
