  1. Hello, I keep hearing that DDL is needed for PC games in order to convert signal on-the-fly. My laptop supports Dolby Digital and I am using a pair of Astro A50 headphones. Is DDL something that I would need? Thank you in advance.
  2. Hello, I have a couple questions regarding Dolby Headphone technology and S/PDIF. I have a Sager NP9370 laptop with an integrated audio chip (Realtek ALC892) and S/PDIF out (that supports Dolby Digital). I also have a set of Astro A50 wireless headphones that have Dolby Headphone technology. My laptop is connected from the S/PDIF to the Astro MixAmp (device that receives the audio and sends to the headphones wirelessly) via a TOSLINK cable. From what I know, my computer sends the Dolby Digital 5.1 signal via S/PDIF to the MixAmp, which upconverts from 5.1 to 7.1 using Pro Logic IIx. Here are my questions: A.) Can S/PDIF carry an encoded 7.1 signal? B.) Some games give the option to choose between stereo, 5.1, 7.1, and surround. Which is the best option for my situation? On one hand, the S/PDIF only delivers 5.1, but the MixAmp upconverts to 7.1. Thank you in advance.
