  1. Listening with the RUR in and out of the chain. Without it my system sounds "flat". I have certain tracks that I use to test every time a new component is added. That's when my memory kicks in..."wow, never heard that before, her inhale and exhale are more noticeable", etc.
  2. It's all about personal preference. The RUR improved the SQ in my main system. It worked even better behind the Industrial Intona. Originally I had the MapleShade Clearlink Plus/Wirewolrd Ultra Violet with the RUR. That was an improvement over my AQ Forest and RUR short USB. The Clearlink Plus is no slouch. It has given life to my computer setup. In time I'll purchase another RUR in that setup too. Went with the Curious full loom in my main setup because of the positive feedback here. Impedance matching with one brand added peace of mind as well.
  3. Wanted to wait for 100 hours before posting SQ impression. However, I like what I'm hearing so far. More impact on piano. Female voices more forward. Cymbals not overly bright. Bass seems tighter.
  4. ^^ Sorry my above reply incomplete. Inadvertently pressed send. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks to the members on CA for the useful posts. You have exposed me to products to improve the SQ on this hobby. I'm enjoying at the moment the improvement choices that was made. No issues whatsoever... 2012 MacBook Pro/current Audivarna+ > 0.5m Curious USB > current model Industrial Intona USB isolator > Curious 200mm link > original W4S RUR powered by 9V el cheapo LPS > Curious 200mm link > W4S DAC 2 (no upgrades).
  5. RUR with Clearlink Plus USB..bam! RUR with Clearlink Plus USB and Intona..boom! Awaiting my full loom Curious USB's. Hoping it will be BAM BOOM!! Hoping also that it would be game over. Sent from my SPH-L720T using Computer Audiophile mobile app
  6. I have the industrial version on the way. I truly believe the theory in letting the Intona "clean up" the USB path then let the RUR do its thing to improve SQ. Next...maybe Curious Cables USB full loom. Man this $het never ends!!
  7. I ended up with this "el cheapo" LPS to replace my RUR's stock power supply. I'll let it cook for awhile before any critical listening. Out of the box the soundstage seems a bit forward. Runs cool too. Been running for 4 hours and it's not even close to warm. $98.00 on eBay plus $27.00 US shipping. Anything above $500 for a LPS will surely spell "divorce" for me. Thanks to all for your expert advice.
  8. That's good to know. I ordered a .3 meter Wireworld Ultraviolet USB for the same purpose.
  9. As in earlier post(s). Power supply is discussed and contributes to the SQ of "W4S and other USB fixers"..."non-curated". I believe it's an important topic on this thread.
  10. With the W4S rur and the Clearlink USB plus in my system and noticed an improvement in SQ, I'm wondering if I can improve SQ more by replacing the short USB provided with the rur and upgrading the power supply to a LPS. Do you guys think changing the short USB cable from the rur to the DAC will have "significant" improvement in SQ? Are there decent LPS's out there for the rur that won't cost me and arm and a leg? Recommendations welcomed. Thank you.
  11. First post. I have been interested in a "usb fixer" for awhile now and been reading threads on CA about them. Finally pulled the trigger on the W4S rur. Did not want to do any critical listening until the suggested 50 hrs burn in period. All I can say is WOW!! Patricia Barber's Cafe Blue album listening experience just got rejuvenated! To make a long story short, everything's more refine. Can't wait for my Clearlink USB plus to arrive. I'm using my trusty AQ Forest USB cable. My DAC is the original W4S Dac2 (no upgrades).
