Article: Geek Speak: Raspberry Pi HiFi Is Here
ingoh replied to The Computer Audiophile's topic in Article Comments
Built a system with nearly the same config as device #2. I exchanged the HifiBerry with an IQaudIO Pi-DAC+. Also runs out of the box with volumio, uses Burr-Brown DAC and has an additional headphone amplifier (TI TPA6133A). All is working fine and the sound quality is really amazing. I use it mostly with my Fidelio headphone and it is a fun to listen. Ingo -
New Linux OS aimed at computer audiophiles: Voyage MPD
ingoh replied to nyc_paramedic's topic in Music Servers
Hi Marc, looks like you don't have root permission to the nfs-share on your Voyage MPD. I don't know if you can set the option "no_root_squash" via Synologies GUI. If not you should be able to edit /etc/exports on your DS213 via putty. Maybe a Google search for synologie and no_root_squash could help. greetings, Ingo -

If your ALIX board uses the tiny bios there is no ACPI and so hibernation won't work. Maybe something like this could be possible. -
Audio Interface as a DAC / ADC
ingoh replied to kdwykleingeld's topic in DAC - Digital to Analog Conversion
As I own a M1DAC and a Focusrite 2i2 here are my 2 cents: You can not compare these DACs. The 2i2 is a tool for musicians and it sounds in the same manner. I use it sometimes as an external sound card for my notebook in conjunction with some earplugs. Sounds better than internal, but not comparable to the M1DAC. Nevertheless the 2i2 is a nice device for digital recording and monitoring (where low latency is needed). -
If you don't rely on a gui robocopy is worth a look. It is free, has full command line control and is able to mirror folders.

Starting a NAS need help deciding on NAS server
ingoh replied to BigBadger's topic in Disk Storage / Music Library Storage
I don't know if it has been written here, but you should consider an external USB drive for backups. A drive mirror in the NAS doesn't substitute a backup. ingo
