  1. I've read from multiple sources that there are best used in a mid-field setup. They are sold as bookshelf speakers after all.
  2. Are the Audioengine A5+ near field? It seems that I get conflicting answers to that when doing my own research. Those would be perfect considering a 'warmer' sound (not mixing so I don't necessarily favor a flat sound) and they also have a sub out connection.
  3. I only had them for a day. I do not have other monitors to compare them too. I can simply say that they were great but I am looking for something smaller and less pricey for my desktop needs. The bass was very tight and was basically perfect for music.
  4. I don't plan on getting a very big sub at all. I think I might look into airmotiv 4 or airmotiv 5 with the audioengine a8 sub. Just a thought.. As far as auditory memory.. I spent a half hour going back and forth between my Klipsch promedia 2.1 and the Adam F7's and was amazed at how bad the klipsch's sounded. I perhaps should word that differently and say how great the F7's sounded. I don't plan on getting a cheap pair of speakers now though and the F7 was a bit big anyways. I think a 5" would be plenty for me if I was adding a sub.
  5. Unfortunately I returned these. While they sounded great, I feel like I am after a much more "fun" experience when I switch to speakers from headphones. I definitely want a 2.1 setup. Adding a sub to those speakers was out of my price range so I'm back to the drawing board.
  6. Ok everyone. I went to guitarcenter and really liked a certain pair so I pulled the trigger. I have 30 days to return these if I don't like them. So far they are nice but I might have gone overboard? I got the Adam F7.
  7. Well I have a dac so that wouldn't really be necessary. Those horn speakers.. lol
  8. Hello all. I am trying to get away from my constant headphone use and get into a nice set of monitors. These will be placed on my computer desk (http://i.imgur.com/OTRYHhK.jpg). I'm looking to spend around $1000 or less in order to get a decent pair. Any opinions? What I've considered so far are the emotiva airmotiv 5/6 and the adam a5x.
