Thanks for that tranz & blownzi. My setup is fairly low-end basic (no AVR), just Cambridge Audio 340C CD player and 340A SE Amp with the older DacMagic (looks quite like the new DacMagic Plus). I tried direct and via DAC and, to me, the direct option sounds a little brighter, but via DAC it sounds slightly warmer, if you know what I mean? I think I prefer the DAC option. I just bought one of the newer little DacMagic 100's, in the post-xmas sales, for my home office, to use via USB from my iMac: these go to an even cheaper Cambridge Audio Topaz amp. The results are pretty good to my ears, listening to FLAC files. As you say, it's all in the ears of the beholder! Thanks again.

Hi, Just wanted to pick your brains re: the best way to play CDs? Should I play via DAC or straight through amp? Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I genuinely wanted to know. Many thanks

Hi, just wanted to ask if anyone knows how I run Audirvana directly, like you can with Decibel? In the case of Decibel, I use Airfoil, select Decibel as application and Apple TV as output and it plays through my DAC from Apple TV; this doesn't work in Audirvana, I get no sound? Any help much appreciated! Thanks.
