  1. RTX-3060? half the cost of 3080 & has 12gb vram
  2. Will the RTX3060 with 12GB memory be suitable to run CUDA offload Sinc-L DSD256 from PCM sources with i7-10700 CPU?

The new RTX3060 video cards have 12GB GDDR6 RAM. Is this enough to run offload Sinc-L at DSD256?
  4. Running 10700k with Gigabyte Vision D m/b. I often see 5.1 all cores in HWinfo64 running latest bios revision and haven't needed to change any settings for overclock. Most boards appear to run above Intel stock spec out of the box.
  5. It was Ubuntu 20.04 LTS on 960 Pro SSD (2nd physical drive). Got the GRUB bootloader to work by importing the keys, but the OS hangs on grey screen on boot regardless of which boot option is selected. Enabling the CSM option in this bios prevents the system from booting & requires a CMOS jumper reset to get working agaom.
  6. Have you managed to get a bootable Linux partition with this board? I had no luck getting Ubuntu LTS booting with UEFI enabled.
  7. Less than impressed with the Vision D M/B - finally recognizes the original Gigabyte GTX970 graphics adapter after flashing the latest BIOS update. I dont remember doing so many CMOS jumper resets to get the system to boot 1. after BIOS u/g, 2: trying to enable CSM in the UEFI BIOS (which is broken) to get Linux to boot - gave up with that.
  8. i7-10700k will run all filters except Sinc-L at DSD256 & ASDM7EC. CPU runs at 4.8GHz or 5.1 depending on filter when playing. TDP is around 70-80W according to HWInfo.
  9. Some details of the RTX 3080 Ti have been leaked. Expected to have 5376 CUDA cores 10GB GDDR6 VRAM and run at 2.2GHz, 40% improved performance over 2080 Ti. Due for release Sep/Oct.
  10. Just completed a I7-10700k build with Noctua NH-D15 cooler on Gigabyte Vision D m/b, 32gb 3200 CL16 ram. Have not installed GPU yet & can do ASDM7EC at DSD256 with all filters except Sinc-L. Cooling these processors on air is marginal. Got stable O/C all cores at 4.8GHz with limiting PL1/PL2 TDP to 158/160w to keep temps within safe limit. Can run Prime95 blend around 70c and small FFT tests around 82c.These boards ship with Enhanced Multi-Core Performance enabled which sets the CPU voltage way too high. Was able to get higher clocks & benchmarks at lower temps by optimizing the power draw.

Still cannot run sinc-L at DSD256 ASDM7EC after overclock. Cores are only at about 28%. The mutlcore setting is set to grey check.

This cooler also blocks the PCI-ex16 slot. Basically any mainboard with the PCI-ex16 slot as the first slot is incompatible with the larger Noctua coolers. The 10th gen CPUs can draw 250w+ & need lots of cooling.

Tried sinc-L and DSD256 ASDM7EC on i7-10700k system and drops audio every few seconds. Will play fine with sinc-S from any PCM rate. Yet to try overclocking. Unfortunately old GPU (GTX970) either died or is not compatible with new M/B so running using iGPU until I get replacement. Damn Noctua NH-D15 cooler on Gigabyte Vision D m/b blocks the PCI-x 16 slot by about 5mm. Poor design. Looking at water cooling replacement.
  14. The inter core latency on the 10th gen of 20-25ns is lower than 8th gen i7 at 40ns and Ryzen ccx latency of 60-70ns.
  15. Specs for i7-10700k and i9-10900k have been released. 10700k is 8/16 HT cores and 5.1GHz clock 125W TDP 10900k is 10/20 HT cores and 5.3GHz clock. Both have new LGA1200 socket. No AVX512.
