  1. Can you say more about how to optimize it?
  2. My Curious cable was in instant improvement over the hard adapter that comes with the Regen. After a few hours it dramatically improved more. It became more coherent and detailed. Then minor improvements after the next day or two.
  3. My buddy has Zu Druids mk. V and it is the best sounding system I've ever heard. He has worked very closely with Phil and Sean for optimal component matching. That is really the key with Zu speakers- they need to be paired with the right amps. This is critical to them sounding jaw dropping or not. In addition, they expose the sound of upstream components more than most speakers due to their high sensitivity and crossover less design.
  4. Blake, What was you impression how the cheapo sounds with the Regen?
  5. I need some good advice about how to move iTunes music files from my macbook pro to my external hard drive, Oyen MiniPro. The tricky part is that about half my music is on the laptop and half already in the MiniPro. If I simple copy and move the files over, then they don't get organized correctly, and iTunes doesn't know about the location change, and it's a mess. I'm thinking that the operation needs to be performed through iTunes so that it can be give new location info and organize it all in one fell swoop. Thanks for your help, Ernie
  6. I use both too. I primarily use Amarra because of how smooth and organic it sounds. I used Audirvana when I wanted to play DSD's or if I wanted a cleaner perspective.
  7. Also consider upgrading the stock power supply to a linear power supply. My understanding is that this makes a big improvement on the sound quality.
  8. I also found the QuteHD to sound bright and alive at first. As it broke in more, this subsided, but the biggest improvement was when I upgraded the power supply to an MCRU linear power supply. The improved power supply made the dac have more weight, eliminated any brightness on the top, and increased the soundstage so that it sounded bigger.
  9. When I'm listening in playlist mode and then add a new song (add finder button) into the playlist, the music currently playing pauses for a second then resumes. When I use the (add itunes button) the song stops completely then restarts after adding another song. I find this annoying at the least and unacceptable at the most. Is there any way around this? I don't have this problem when I'm using Amarra linked to itunes, but I like the sound quality of using playlist instead of itunes mode. Thanks for any help with this, Ernie
  10. My first priority is sound quality. Seems like my XLD settings are fine, it's the Wav format that is the problem. My choice are: 1- Do the Wav rips using iTunes 2- Use XLD to do AIFF rips 3- Use XLD to do Wav rips and input the info manually Before I decide, I'll compare #1 & #2. #3 is too much of a pain in the arse. I have a highly resolving system, so it will be interesting to hear what I come up with. As I mentioned before, the XLD rips sounded better to me than the iTune rips. I'm using a QuteHD dac with LCRU power supply and an Offramp 4 as my source, Placette active preamp, Coincident Dragon tube mono blocks, with Tyler Acoustic Linbrook system speakers.
  11. Shoot, I want to stick with Wav. Hmmmmmmm. Maybe I'll do some tests to see if I can hear a difference between Wav and aiff.
  12. Hi everyone, I recently got a minipro ext hard drive and so I'm ripping my complete cd collection onto it. I've been using itunes to rip them into Wav format, but decided to switch to using xld to do the rips because it sounds better to my ears. The problem I'm having is that when I do this XLD does not attach an artist name or album and so they are scattered on iTunes. I have to manually go into each song and enter in the artist and album info. This is too tedious and I'm tempted to go back to letting itunes do the rips because it inputs all this info automatically. There must be a way that XLD can put all the songs into the appropriate album folder and artist folder.
  13. I hope more chime in because I'm interested in this question too
