  1. I'm no expert ... but I'll pass on my thoughts on 2 different setups that I have. At work I use the powered Audioengine2's with a NuForce uDac 2. They're great for background music at the office. At home on my desk (it's a big desk about 6'6" wide) I use the NuForce DDA100 with a pair of Harbeth P3ESR's. That set up is extremely good. The speakers are at the edges of the desk ... the sound stage is very good ... and the little Harbeth's are (except for low bass) the best speakers I've ever heard.
  2. Here are my systems in two photos. Both are driven off my 2012 Mac Pro using iTunes (all ALAC). The desktop speakers are Harbeth P3ESR's driven by a Nuforce DDA100 amp connected to the MacPro via USB. The DDA 100 is not in the picture. A wireless Audio Engine DAC is also connected to the Mac Pro and drives the bigger rig. NAD 375BEE amp and Harbeth 40.1 speakers.
  3. I received my new DDA-100 today. My experience with it is therefore limited. Mine is fed ALAC files from iTunes from my Mac Pro via USB ... it's driving a pair of Harbeth P3ESR's on my desk about 5.5 feet apart toed in towards me ... I'm about 5 feet from each ... so very "near field" The DDA-100 is replacing a little Jolida tube amp and a NuForce HDP DAC. So far, after a couple hours of use, I'm very impressed. It's great for the way I'm using it. That said, the little Harbeths aren't the most efficient speakers and, while volume levels are great for my use, it's not quite as powerful as I was expecting.
