  1. One thing for sure: from the last posts I can see nobody understand what "USB CABLE COMPARISONS" meant.
  2. In my case I use a 4 HD RAID and one of the advantage of this is the RAID goes to sleep after 5 minutes if the mac don't use it and wake up everytime I need it. Maybe you need a hard case for your hard drive with this option or you can try a 2 HD RAID in a case with this option and at the same time your risk of loss data will be less. 3. You can open the system preferences and take a look to energy saver. You need a ticket in "wake for network access" only, "Computer sleep" option disabled (never) and without ticket "put hard disks to sleep when possible". "Display sleep" 5 or 10 minutes is fine. Audirvana Plus 2.6

Audirvana 2.6.4 take advantage of a four core mac or is minimal side to side with a dual core computer? In other words A+ use more than two cores if I play music without process it? Only play the file as is and the DAC change to the correct sample rate according the track. Sent from my iPad using Computer Audiophile

    Audirvana Plus 2.6

I need edit my previous post, now I was listening music for a long period and I found a difference in sound between 2.5.4 and 2.6.2. A+ 2.62 is more dry, best resolution in bass frequency, but with compromise in the top end. I needed relocate my speakers to obtain the sound I lost with the last version. I'm not sure if stay with this version or return to 2.5.4 because I don't use normalization or dr. Not a big difference in all case, but easy to listen after some time. Audirvana Plus 2.6

I was following this thread and was afraid to update... Well, today I made a backup and decided install A+2.6.2. The result is: same sound, like always (Alternative C), and all working fine, like always. I install over my old data (no clean install). From a long time I use Metadatics to add and organize data of my tracks, instead of iTunes or A+. Sent from my iPad using Computer Audiophile

  8. I suggest Revel also, I bought some electronics in Agon without trouble, but could be luck. I don't know. If you can try the speakers before to pay is better. The new line of Revel is an excellent option.. Sent from my iPad using Computer Audiophile
  9. 16 GB will make the difference, more resolution, more subtle details. Use the USB port with less connections, if possible one with only the audio interface connected and no shared with other internal component (this is the reason why Apple use the word hub), if you can't find a port without internal component assigned use the port with infrared receptor, it has less traffic. 10. In my case the hiccups were because the digital cable, and is very important, like Tone Deaf said, be sure the USB output used for audio is the port with less traffic. If you don't upsample (I don't) the difference between i5 and i7 is nothing. The RAM and SSD make a big difference, specially the RAM. After the RAM is upgraded is very important to assign the new amount of RAM in the A+ preferences. Sent from my iPad using Computer Audiophile
  11. Here I was using a Macbook Pro 15" 2,5 GHz i7 for my music with A+, then I decided buy a Mac Mini to replace it, the same you are describing, my MBP used a 500 GB SSD and 16 GB RAM, connected to a RAID of 16 TB through firewire 800. When I changed it, the big difference was the sound, I was using the same software in both machines, it couldn't be the problem. Then I change RAM memory in the Mac Mini and then the sound was closed to the sound I had with the Macbook Pro. I changed the hard drive for a 250 GB SSD and now my music sounds like always. I don't upsample or do anything to my music files in aiff, I only play it and the DAC change to the right original sample rate. When DAC change sample rate the music take one second more in load instead the fast load if the song has the same sample rate. For other side one time I had hiccups in this same system, the problem was the digital cable. In my case I removed the coaxial cable from an European label and replaced it with a BNC cable from PS Audio, problem solved. Sent from my iPad using Computer Audiophile
  12. Hello... well, isolation is very important no matter the material of the rack. Like a rule we can asume glass reinforce high frequencies, metal mid and wood low frequencies. Different glasses affect to different high frequencies, like different metals and different woods to each group of frequencies. Each material have a different molecular estructure and different resonance frequency and it affect each electronic component in contact, producing internal vibrations and affecting the final tonal accuracy, add some distortion. In the end a degradation of the signal. All this "issues" are easily put off if we use isolation. This condition include speaker racks, for this reason we need isolation between rack and speaker. When we look for a rack, is more important how it looks because the isolation make the more important part of the job. My two cents. Sent from my iPad using Computer Audiophile
  13. Class D all time... I move from class A and never turned back, a big recommendation is use a current cleaner like PS Audio, Panamax or Surgex, the difference with or without is big, if you have a resolving system. Sent from my iPad using Computer Audiophile
  14. I can suggest Bryston BDA series, if you don't need DSD and have a resolving system. You can pick an used BDA-1 under $1,000 and listen all the effects and an accurate tone for your PCM tracks. Sent from my iPad using Computer Audiophile
  15. Well, well, well... my hard lesson about electronic and music was in the University, after my first record in the studio... the sound had all the effects, ambient, space, was wonderful. Then, when I ended the mix, I put my recording in a CD to listen it in my house, in my "magnificent hifi system". But... surprise!!! What happen with my mix? Where it is?... Well, I can hear the music, but the magic I do in the recording studio disappeared. I took my CD back to the studio, because I believed something wrong happened when I record the CD, BUT surprise again, the CD in the studio sounded with all the magic I did. Lesson, a big lesson... Then I went with my CD, listening every system I could, almost every designer in the market, and I learn 85% is trash, including popular designers and hi end designers. What happen in the market? Why so poor systems can be sold? The answer is easy, the sound is like the colors, if you never see a color you can't imagine it... with sound is the same, you can't. The the most of the people think they are listening the best sound in the world... well until they discover the opposite... and most people never do it. The sad part of this is: we need a lot of money to listen the music like it was recorded and not only part of this.... Then you have to listen and listen a lot to discover what are you looking for...
