  1. Hi Ted. My PS3 has just been "Jasonized" and is on its way back. I'd appreciate if you could send me your guide. Thanks
  2. $849.99 at Elusive Disc, but not in stock yet.... TEAC UD-501 DUAL-MONAURAL PCM/DSD USB DAC (BLACK)-Elusive Disc
  3. Yes, it has been dead for quite a while and I have contacted Teac USA both by email and phone for that and other things, and got nowhere. The pre-sales person that I had on the phone yesterday told me that the UD-501 was only to be sold on line, and recommended I should look on Amazon. When I objected that it was not offered there, or anywhere else in the US for that matter, and please could I just order it direct, she indicated this was not possible either, and offered no solution for a willing buyer. I even contacted J&R in New York because I noticed that they were selling the Teac HA-501-B Headphone Amplifier on Amazon, which is part of the same product offering, but they also respectfully declined, saying that "at this time we have no information as to when we will get this item into our inventory", but they would indeed happily take my order for anything else that I liked in their catalog... It is just beyond me to see how disorganized this product launch has been. As for the question I had earlier on firmware updates, they responded that "the firmware update would either be a physical upgrade or through the USB port, but usually these devices do not require firmware upgrades." Well, let's hope so then. I guess this makes sense if we consider that the software primarily contained in the DAC chip and there is not much anywhere else.
  4. I think this question was posed somewhere else but never got answered: how can support of the PCM 384KHz sample rate be achieved using the PCM1795 chip which has a max sampling frequency of 200KHz? http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/pcm1795.pdf
  5. Latest official price for the US: $859.99 News :: TEAC Announce New 501 Reference Series | TEAC
  6. Is not this the job of the player (interfacing through the drivers)? Foobar will play DSD ISO and ddf files, and JRMC 18, SDS ISO, dsf and ddf, I believe.
  7. Hi, I am new to CA. I contacted Brian Tucker yesterday as Stew suggested (sorry Stew, could not remember at the time who that was that gave the advice...) and he confirmed that he could not sell outside of his area and indicated that the $799 price was a misprint; the actual price is $959. I could not find anybody in my area (SOCAL), using the TEAC dealer locator, who knew anything about this DAC though. I was able to contact a dealer who said that he might be able to order it for me, but that since it was new and he did not know anything about it, he was not committing to have it in stock and I would have to work with TEAC to work out return and support conditions. I guess the product is just too new and it seems that TEAC has not done a good job at getting their act together before offering it in this market. I looked up the English version of the owner's manual that valenroy (thanks!) posted a link to, but could not find anything about how one gets the DAC firmware updated. Is that through the driver software? Does anyone know? Also I installed the TEAC Audio Player (looks nice) and saw that it is only documented in Japanese, which again makes me wonder about TEAC's readiness to support the product.
