  1. View Classified Revel Performa3 F206 Floorstanding Loudspeakers Gloss Black For sale are a pair of Revel Performa3 F206 floorstanding loudspeakers in gloss black. They are slender with a small footprint and look fantastic in our living room. These were in fact my wife's preference for her home decor as well as mine for their very nice performance for the money. I am the original owner, I purchased them about 9 years ago. They are in very good shape, but not perfect condition if you look close. I would give them an Audiogon 8/10. The sale does not include the platforms with outriggers that the speakers are standing on. FYI, these speakers are used by none other than @Kal Rubinson of Stereophile Magazine as his rear surrounds (last time I looked), with the much more expensive Revel Ultima2's for his fronts. I think that says something, but please feel free to come by for an audition, just PM me. I am currently using my 12 Watts per channel tube amp, which can be plenty loud, but which may not provide enough oomph to get the most out of these speakers. Feel free to bring your own amp. See the write up at the Revel web site here. I am selling these for $1,200, about 60% off list price. They are available for local pick up in the Northern California Bay Area. 2. B&W (Bowers & Wilkens) CM1 Book Shelf Speakers with B&W Stands and with AQ Rocket33 Speaker Cables View Classified I am selling my first pair of speakers! I am offering for sale a pair of B&W CM1 book shelf speakers with a gloss black finish. They look great and come with the original packaging and all of the original parts including the screens (not shown in the photo). I am including the accompanying B&W stands that are designed for both the CM1 and the CM5. I am including Audio Quest 9-foot Rocket33 speaker cables with bi-wire speaker connectors. These small speakers sound better than you might think, especially if you get them off the "book shelf" and onto the stands. They are very nice in the mid range, e.g. Gene Ammons on the Alto Sax in Canadian Sunset. If your are interested in Surround or Atmos currently being investigated by @The Computer Audiophile they could of course be used as the rear surround pair. The original pricing was $1000, IIRC $500, and $300 for the speakers, stands, and cable, respectively. I am asking $800 which is better than half price. I prefer local pickup. I am located in the Bay Area in Northern California. I can ship but it will be expensive, the stands are stout and heavy. Seller jbparrish Date 04/09/22 Price 800.00 USD Category Speakers
  3. Tekton Design Double Impact Full Range High Efficiency Speakers View Classified Hi there, I am selling my Tekton Design Double Impacts. These are very nice speakers, especially for the price. I first heard about them in a post by @ted_bon this forum several years ago, did some additional research, and have been very happy with them. They sound fantastic, many claim they are not just reasonably priced, but are a reference level speaker. See Terry London in Home Theater Review very the low down on high efficiency speakers in general and how the double impacts fit into that spectrum. I am selling for two reasons, first the wife thinks they are too large, second I scored even better high efficiency speakers at an estate sale. See photo with my mug shot for a sense of scale. I paid $3300 for speakers in flat black and with a small upgrade. I am selling for $1500, firm, about half price. Better to come by for pickup, I live in the Bay Area in California, but can ship if you pay shipping. Specs from web site: 54" x 12" x 18", 118 pounds, 20 Hz to 30 KHz frequency response, 4 Ohm. I drive them with a 12 W / channel tube amp with ample headroom. Condition is an Audiogon 9/10, no marks that I can see. Contact me to arrange an audition here if desired using my Chord Hugo TT2. Seller jbparrish Date 03/12/22 Price 1,500.00 USD Category Speakers
  4. Does HQPlayer offer any benefit with this DAC, ie 16/44 upscaled to 24/196?
  5. I contacted the supplier in the link asking if their board was a plug and play replacement for the Amanero board, which I have in my DAC. Here is the response. I am interested in the Amanero styled board, because I can for sure do the replacement, not so sure that I can do the re-wiring unless someone describes exactly what must be done...
  6. Hi wcvb, I use an OPPO 103, which is supposed to be a universal disk player, as essentially an HDMI splitter, where I use the 103's analog section to provide the output for my amplifier. In the distant past I have looked into standalone splitters, but they are expensive, and you are limited IIRC by a sample rate downgrade because HDMI is licensed. The OPPO has an external HDMI input, which is very unusual for that class of machine, which I have wired with an Apple TV. Pretty much we only do streaming any more. The Apple TV can be configured to output 2.0, but not 2.1 IIRC, and does a good job of integrating the missing 5 channels. The OPPO, if fed from a BluRay disk, can be configured to down mix to 2.1, again IIRC, and it also does a good job. Since this is an audiophile forum, I will throw in that you should never down mix 5 channel SACD, for example, only use the 2 channel version that also comes on the disk. I do not use the LFE (0.1) channel so cannot comment on that. The 103's are selling for about $500 pre-owned on eBay. Not sure how your setup is wired, or what your budget is, so I am not sure if this is helpful. Good luck

    HQ Player

I think it does, but I tried 48K DSD unchecked, and still no change.

    HQ Player

Oops, my apologies, I grabbed the preferences screen shot when the DAC was off. Here it is again. I have not emailed Piero at audiolinux. The NUC/NAA and DAC work very nicely, actually, just not ASDM7EC.

    HQ Player

Thanks@ted_b, here is the screen shot of the Preferences window: Preferences.pdf The NAA is from audiolinux. From the log file NAA Daemon 4.1.1. The DAC is an LKS MH-DA004, there is a very strong support / DIY community for this DAC at Head-Fi, I ran this by them first thinking that maybe the DAC was not set up correctly, the response was "The NAA must report it can do DSD otherwise you can get kicked back to PCM, this capability information is reported in the logfile". I looked over the log file, but nothing strange, to me anyway.

    HQ Player

I recently purchased the new Mac mini M1 and installed HQPlayer Desktop on it. I have set up preferences to SDM (DSD), poly-sync-mp, and ASDM7EC, using the Preferences screen shot from page 762. Problem is, as soon as I press play HQPlayer switches to PCM, poly-sync-lp, and TPDF, with format conversion 44.1 / 16 to 352.8 / 32. I can't get HQPlayer to play to DSD and the highly esteemed ASDM7EC. The Max mini plays to an NAA installed on an IBM NUC7PJYH then to my DAC USB. What am I doing wrong? I looked at the log file, but nothing jumps out at me. Thanks, John
  11. Hi Dev, I am interested, please PM me with details. Shipping to 95688. Thanks
  12. Quick question, if I mount an Intel Optane ssd in a housing and connect it by USB to my NUC, i.e. as an external drive, have I lost all of that Optane goodness because of the USB circuitry? Or does the Optane ssd need to be mounted directly on the main board to contribute to a sound quality advantage? Assume quality LPS for external drive. Thanks
  13. Yes, I use Audiolinux. It is very reasonably priced. You burn an image to a USB stick, and then you reboot your computer off the image. Audiolinux supports both a Roon end point and HQ player NAA end point (and others). That’s what I and many others here are doing. I am using a small IBM NUC. There is lots of information on this elsewhere on AS.
