  1. Hey folks, I am using A Musical Fidelity V - Dac 2 that I've enjoyed for many years now. My current listening includes quite a bit of Tidal. I know even at the time there were probably far better units, but Is it so long in the tooth that I am really missing out in the higher formats ? Running Ascend Tower Speakers....Thanks! .....Ray
  2. I wrote & Recorded a track in Classic Rock Style That I would really like fellow audiophiles thoughts on. I intended for punchy drums and mix clarity, not necessarily over the top on the Guitars, and even bass throughout. any thoughts appreciated!....Thanks! ....Ray
  3. Ascend Acoustic Sierra Towers. Under 2500.00 with the NRT tweeter (which sounds great) 3,000.00 with the Raal tweeter Real wood (Bamboo cabinets) deep bass, excellent dynamics, wonderful mids..... Ascend Acoustics - Quality loudspeakers Made Affordable Via Direct Sales
  4. Basic volume. There are a few reference dots.
  5. Correct, there is no display for volume level, many pres dont have this and alot of people dont care, I do. Regarding Bass management, its pretty good for low pass (adjustment knob for Frequency) High pass is not adjustable. 80hz fixed. There is a subwoofer level knob on the front which is nice, however again no readout so no repeatability if that matters.... Over all a good sounding pre with some nice Bass management features. hope this helps:)
  6. I owned the 2100, sound wise I thought it was very good. however there were a few deal breakers for me with this unit, they may not matter to you but here it is... 1) Volume control. its not precise, clumsy with the remote, no level display. 2) limited bass management. fixed high pass at 80hz 3) The remote sucks. I ended up going with an Emotiva XSP-1 which eliminated my issues, but if those do not matter to you (many are very happy with it) its a solid unit.
  7. I agree PAP, and you provided a very good example. In the Case of Def Leppard extensive use of electronics are invlolved due to him only having one arm so I'll cut them some slack...?.. but overall you are correct.
  8. This well recorded New track has a very nice Funky Bass groove..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDKDnlGl15o
  9. I found this live recording for dutch jazz tv.....master musicians, it is so well played.....I think that the real secret to the sound of the studio albums is...... they can really really play. Fantastic live recording. love the ambience on the drums, the Trio mix is superb, the Vocals a tad high to me but sound great! They are very good, thanks for sharing it PAP!
  10. Very nice clean recording, The vocals sound superb on this!
  11. I agree, but its a very good mix and with volume a nice low end kick. I also just Love her voice so I may be biased on this one...lol
  12. 1) "Elelphants on Ice Skates" - Brian Bromberg 2) " Never Going Back Again" - Fleetwood Mac 3) " Jamie Runaway" - Steely Dan 4) " Got A Hold On Me" - Christine Mcvie 5) " Victim Of Love" - Eagles 6) " Those Shoes" - Eagles 7) " I can See Clearly Now" - Holly Cole 8) " Never Give Up" - Brian Bromberg 9) " The Groove" - Brian Culberston 10) " I think Its Gonna Work Out Fine" - Linda Rondstat & James Taylor
  13. Whether its Neil or Dr. Dre, the promotion of being able to listen to music as intended by the Artist in this day & age is a welcome turn of events. Whether their products actually do that maybe up for debate, but I like that its being discussed and hopeful it will bring about some change from the convenience/ how many songs can I fit in my pocket culture. Looking forward to Chris's impressions!
  14. Absolutely beautiful speaker!
  15. Paul, I see you listed the Boston album as an example, and I agree, However "Hitch a Ride" sounds pretty darn good to me. Curious if this track stands out on your system as well?
