  1. Hi all, Curious if anyone has ever had an issue with the Regen playing DSD iso rips from a MB pro to a PS Audio ds dac? Received my Regen in June and it performed perfectly with iso rips coming thru as DOP dsd on the ds dac. About a month ago it just stopped playing the iso files after I paused a track and then hit play again. Now when I play any dsd rip, the MB pro indicates dsd64 on my Audirvana+ screen as it always had, but only a white noise gets to the speakers (although at very high volume I can faintly make out the track being played). And the dac now indicates 176.4/24, not dsd. What's weird is if I pull the Regen out, it plays dsd files perfectly again with proper indication on both audirvana+ and the ds dac. Put the regen back in, nada. I just installed an aq jitterbug in my usb port and it plays dsd without issue when in the chain. Put the regen back in and nyet. I have done almost everything I could think of: revert back to pikes peak, reinstall yale, reboot/reinstall everything else, try different usb cables, even got a new replacement regen from alex, but nothing worked. And it must be something in my system because my son also has the same MB pro, audirvana+ and ds dac and I was visiting him this past weekend and brought along my Regen. Played the same dsd iso files flawlessly in his system. Did so with his jriver player also. One other thing, after failure to play dsd I noticed that although all other file resolutions played properly on the dsd dac, the volume was now attenuated and the Regen did not sound quite as good, especially in the high end. Rather than my normal ds dac volume setting of 60 to 62, I now need a setting of 72 to 74 to get the same output level on the same tracks when the regen is installed. The one remaining check I will do next time I visit my son is to bring my MB pro along and use it in place of his MB pro and see if that's where the problem lies. We are both using maverick. I am open to any and all suggestions. Thanks for your help on this. Regards, John
  2. Same with my case. I've just gone throught two albums after downloading 1.5.1 and have not experienced any more issues. And I too agree with others that the SQ is much improved. I am impressed with the smoothness and detail increase that is easily discernable on my LCD-2s. Nice job Damien!
  3. Thanks for your help Damien. I am not back in town until late tonight. Might not be able to get info to you until tomorrow evening, but I will gladly comply with your request ASAP.
  4. My crashes occur no matter what format I play including DSD and or the native or upsampled frequency. It occurs whether or not Itunes is open or closed. BTY I have not updated to latest version of Itunes so I know that is not the problem. I have closed and restarted all programs, changed USB ports, changed output to FW and even used the internal MB Pro speakers. Nothing plays. This MUST be an A+ issue (maybe??).
  5. I'm maxed out at 16 gb ram. I keep 12 gb available to A+. but direct mode was checked on as it has been on all previous versions. Tonight I will turn off direct mode and advise result. Thanks.
  6. One last comment - switched from USB to firewire. Same problem still occurring. I don't know what else to try at this point. Any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.
  7. Further info. I have shut down my MB Pro, switched usb ports and reset my Mytek DAC. Same problem persists. I also tried playing from Itunes integrated mode and playing stops after a few seconds with the message "releasing itunes playback" Has ANYONE else had this issue? How can I install the previous release. I purged my download folder a week ago and don't know how to downgrade now to the earlier release. Thanks
  8. I seem to have developed a problem with 1.5 that did not exist yesterday when I initially upgraded. When playing songs in A+ playlist (dropped from Itunes) the song will not play through. It may play for 10 seconds or a minute, but always stops with a message that flashes once in the upper left of the A+ display that says "stopped audio playback" and quickly disappears. None of the songs will now play through. Is there some setup that I have wrong or is this another bug? I NEVER had a problem at all before this upgrade. Thanks.
  9. Just wanted to advise that with the new 16Gb PNY drive I have not experienced a single problem copying iso files into my MBP's music sub-folder. Have copied about 25 rips without issue. So there was definitly something wrong with the two Sandisk drives that gave me fits. The one thing I did notice with the PNY stick is that it seems have a tighter fit into MBP USB slot. Maybe poor contact with the Sandisk sticks had something to do with the problems I had.
  10. Ken, I have tried a recently purchased Sandisk 32 Gb stick with same results. In fact, I think I buggered-up that stick. I have reformatted it several times now on (1) my MBP, (2) W7 office laptop and (3) wife's W8 laptop. Although it successfully formated each time (used both quick and standard format - 4 hours on my W7 laptop for standart format!!), it still gave me the 36 error on the MPB every time. In addition, the stick crashed yesterday during a standart BU of my office MS laptop - never had that happen in the many years I've been backing-up my files. So I am going to buy a new 16 Gb stick tomorrow and see if it works. I will also try your suggestion of shutting down the Mytek and pulling the USB cable to see if that makes a difference. I also have a FW cable that I can connect and see if that route eliminates the issue. But I'll try the USB removal first since I would like to keep that connection to my Mytek if possible. Also, you seem to suggest that there is a difference in download speed with different sticks. How can I tell which ones available at my Best Buy store are better for this application? I really appreciate your interest in my problem. Regards, John
  11. kennyb123, Thanks for the suggestions. Running OSX 10.8.2 on my MBP. Its only 2 months old. I have reformatted the usb stick on my MBP but to no avail. However, it seems I have found a work-around (at least it works most of the time). If I plug the usb stick into my Mac and the drag the iso file into A+ (the files drop in perfectly and play without issue from the stick) and then do a copy from the stick to my music folder in Finder, it copies OK. How can dragging into A+ first possibly have anything to do with "unlocking" the usb drive? Although this procedure has worked about 80% of the time (ripped about 10 SACDS since my last post), I did have two occurrences thus far that confuse me even further: 1. One time the file began to copy to my music folder OK but failed about half way thru with the 36 error code. I pulled and replaced it, tried again, but same thing happened. I then pulled and replaced a third time and what-do-ya-know, it worked. Beats me why. 2. Another time I dragged the file from the stick to A+ but the files failed to transfer at all. Then immediately tried to copy anyway, but as expected got the 36 error code. When I pulled and replaced the stick, my A+ then copy procedure worked fine. This time I suspect the first attempt failure was due to initial bad read of the stick by my Macs port. I have tried pulling and reinstalling the stick many times in the hopes that it was the problem, but until I dragged first into A+, it would not copy. Could the fact that I am connected by USB from my MBP to my Mytek 192 have anything to do with this??? So while it appears I can now get my SACDS ripped, I sure would like to uncover the reason for the issues I have. Thanks, John
  12. All, I have successfully ripped a number of SACDs using my newly acquired PS3 using my son's blue tooth controller and had no issue when copying them to my Macbook Pro. But yesterday I purchased a cheap USB controller to use. Although the rip goes smoothly and the iso file is on my 8 Gb thumb drive, I now get an error when the file begins to copy to my Macbook Pro. The error message reads "The finder can't complete the operation because some data in "SACD Title Here" can't be read or written. (Error Code - 36). Has anyone else had this experience? Any idea what is going wrong? Thanks. John
  13. I just received my ps3 v3.15 and am excited to get started ripping my sacd collection. Could you please send me your guide? What a great site for beginning computer audiophiles!!! Looking forward to being a participating member.
