  1. I apologize that I didn't read the whole thread but hopefully this is an easy question: Has anyone compared the iFi Micro iUSB3.0 to the ISO Regen (not the old version)? Thanks!
  2. I thought about trying different ways to make it work but I was so perturbed by the thing that I just packed it up!
  3. I bought an Audioquest Forest USB cable to go between an iFi iUSB and an iDAC because I wasn't sure of the quality of the cable provided by iFi. So, I plug the cable in (replacing the iFi cable) and boot up...........only the computer won't boot! It gets stuck at the POST screen. I tried several times and it won't boot. So, I take out the Audioquest cable....it boots right up!! I've worked in IT for a number of years and never encountered anything like that. Oh well, I guess the cable is going back.
  4. I'd be interested in what you think of the MyDAC hooked up with the iUSB.
  5. I ran the iUSB with both of them. Never listened to the myDac solo.
  6. I sat with my wife and brother-in-law for 2 hours listening to the 2 DACs. My bro-in-law consistently liked the iFi and my wife consistently liked the myDac. I went back and forth but usually picked the myDac. For the last two songs we played my bro-in-law gave the edge to the myDac. So, we decided the myDac wins. It was really tough because they are both, great everyone agreed. You can't go wrong with either. In fact, I'm tempted to keep the iFi just because I know they have better customer support (Micromega support is nonexistent).
  7. ACK!! I'm an idiot! I had the volume all the way up on the iDac. Sounds better now. They both sound great now. . .
  8. I have both now. For comparison purposes I hooked up each to the iUSB to get the best sound. My wife and I listened to both of them and agreed that we like the MyDac better. I don't know all the terms to describe sounds so I looked them up and this one seemed to fit the iDac on a few songs: Edgy - Distorted, having unwanted harmonics that add an edge or raspiness. It was quite clear on Cee Lo Green's Bright Lights Bigger City. The MyDac didn't have any problems like that and was clear and smooth. These are the songs we listened to: Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody Cee Lo Green - Bright Lights Bigger City Steely Dan - Aja Pink Floyd - Money Guns N' Roses - Welcome to the Jungle Sarah McLachlan - Angel Portishead - Glory Box Porcupine Tree - The Sound of Muzak Al Di Meola - The Embrace Dave Matthews - Don't Drink the Water Tool - Jambi, Sober Rush - Limelight I haven't counted the iDac out yet though. I want to give it time to burn in before making my final decision. Two things going for the iDac are the fact that the MyDac won't play 192khz on my system (I think it's a driver problem) and the iDac comes with an Asio driver and the MyDac does not.
  9. Just get a cable that is better quality than a normal printer cable and you should be safe.
  10. I just ordered the iDac w/iUSB and the MyDac so I should be able to do a comparison soon!!
  11. Thanks. I did a little more research and it looks like the RCA connection might be the best way still.
  12. I'm planning to use the USB connection to my computer so I definitely want asynch USB. Plus, I like the ~$500 price point and 192khz. Anyone compared both of these or have any comments about which is "better"? Thanks!
