Don't know. I've never heard of jriver. Is it a streaming website? You'd have to try it out and see.

The other option is if you're streaming off a site such as MOG or Pandora, it may allow you to adjust the volume.

I have the Modi running through Audioengine A5+ speakers and I love it. Can't compare it to another DAC because this is the only one I've ever owned or tried, but it's a huge improvement over running it through the Macbook Pro sound card. Way more depth and warmth. I thought the difference would be subtle. It is not. Well worth the $99 plus shipping. Just a caution to those whose speakers don't have volume control; the computer's volume is overridden by Modi. Not a problem with the A5s, though, which have their own amplifier. I'm guessing this is true of the A2s as well.
