  1. Thanks I will check these out.
  2. Hi All, I am setting up a surface pro with JRiver to use with a USB DAC and headphone amp in my office. It is one of the older Surface Pros and has only one USB out. However, in addition to connecting to a USB DAC I would also like to connect an external HD drive for music. Does anyone have a recommendation for a USB Hub that will give me two outputs and will not degrade too much the sound? Thanks
  3. What I want to do is transfer music files stored on a Windows formatted HD to an HD to be used with MAC so that the MAC can read those files and also so that I can download further music files on the Mac to this HD.
  4. So I can plug both the existing Windows formatted drive and the new Mac formatted drive into the Mac and drag and drop the files from one to the other?
  5. Hi all, I have been searching the web in an effort to find an answer to this but thought it would be better to speak to you all. I have my music library (mainly FLAC) loaded onto WD or Seagate external hard drives which are formatted for Windows and are currently used with my Windows based Baetis Audio Music server in my main two channel system. I am setting up a headphone system in my office and will use a MacBook Pro 2016 as server with Audionirvana. I will buy some new external hard drives for this system. My question is how can I copy the existing files I have on the Windows formatted HDs to the new HDs that need to be formatted for Mac. I understand that Mac can read a Windows formatted HD but not write to it and I will need to write to these files as well. I no longer have a Windows laptop so I am hoping there is some way I can transfer the files onto the Mac HD using my MacBook Pro. Thanks James
  6. Hi All, I am looking to build an office set up with my Stax 009 headphones and wanted the group`s advice on a good source to feed into a DAC. I will likely use the same Windows FLAC files I am using on my home 2 channel system with JRiver (via a Baetis Server) so it needs to be compatible with this. Is a laptop the best option? I would want to spend no more than say $1,500-2,000. Advice on a DAC at similar price range also appreciated. Music is mainly jazz, blues, acoustic, blues, folk. I am using a Woo GES amplifier. Thanks, James
  7. Hi all. I am setting up a system to listen to music in the office. I will be getting a Windows based laptop (possibly Dell XPS 15) and was looking for recommendations for a DAC and Amp. I will probably use JRiver for software and thinking of acquiring the HD800s for headphones and mainly listen to jazz and acoustic. Any recommendations for DAC and Amp would be much appreciated. Budget of up to say $5,000 but if can spend a lot less would be ideal. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Computer Audiophile
  8. Hi all I would appreciate advice on getting the best out of my new DAC for two channel listening. I currently have a Windows 7 64 bit Lenovo laptop loaded with lossless files and using iTunes. Today I purchased JPlay and with a USB connection to the DAC have noticed a decent improvement in overall sound quality. I am now trying to decide what more I can do to improve my computer audio set up. I have considered moving to JRiver but am unsure how I could then continue to sync my iPad, iPhone and iPod with music. Any general advice would be much appreciated. Thanks James
