what type of distortion it is you hear? i get few louder or quiter clicks/pops before the begining of song from time to time on rDac..

Nige, aren't you using JK Ciunas? All bit depths and samples rates ok?

After 16/44.1 conversion to 24/96 everything works with mqncontrol v5, but not 24/44.1. But converting files is a hassle, though possible.

hmz.. then how can i play everything in foobar (with Kernel streaming and with Wasapi: both after setting 24bit in foobar's output settings page) and in Jplay the same ? I can not configure dac as it has native drivers (i do not need to install anything separately) and there are no settings to select, just in the players itselves. Any advice?

nope, it still doesn't make a sound and same error message though 24/96 still works sorry, for pushing you so hard..

None of mqn versions work with 16 bit files (tried 1.10; 2.35..2.40; 3.10). I always get same info in cmd window: "valid bits 16 conteiner bits 24 rate 44100 Audio device does not support the requested format." And then it force closes. Hope you could develop a version of mqncontrol, capable to "talk" to my dac for also playing 16/44 and 24/48 (now it shows as everything would be alright, but no sound and just hungs and i can not even kill it and have to make reset). Maybe this version would work for others who struggle like me. Huge thanks in advance!!! note: i do not have jplay installed in my fresh 2012 server gui install yet, so i guess system timer is untouched.

My dac plays everything up to 24/96 with no problems (jplay, foobar and etc.). Your mqncontrol.exe 2496 24bit v5 worked like a charm on 2496 files: 1-3 seconds of minor clips and pops and then file plays. Quick impression vs single pc Jplay 5.1 ultrastream - MQn 2.40 "gave" more details, better clarity and microdinamics. And that is Jplay on fully tweaked core vs mqn on not tweaked full gui 2012 server! Further details after more serious listen. But what to do with other files? 16bit gave error and mqncontrol forceclosed. 24/48 - mqncontrol hung.. Could anything be done? Thanks and congrats for player which has a future! Minimal, no gui, superb sound reproduction - is what i personally seak for!

sbgk, I've just installed fresh win server 2012 gui. as i've re-enabled those win-audio services, when i press mqn.bat cmd window opens and instantly closes and still no sound (though i can play music through foobar via kernel streaming or wasapi; both after setting 24bit output in foobar settings). what further steps could i take? what your files should i use (usb rdac, sandy i5) ? Thanks.

Hello sbgk, I would love to try your player and to compare it to JPLAY on audio dedicated pc with some linear ps's and dedicated usb card (heavy optimized Windows Server 2012, minimal gui) + usb Arcam rDac, but it seems everything i tried failed: followed readme file, and tried all three types of MQNPLAY, also 24bit ones from archive (my dac on kernel streaming wants 24bit to be set in order to play) and no sound. I see just a songname and a timestamp and curson blinking. Any advice how to proceed? Thanks.

Installed this W8 version and everything works like a charm Just updated Fidelizer, installed JPLAY and thats it! Aaa.. also changed explorer shell into TC:) It also lets PC "breathe" even easier
