  1. hi don't worry, it's my fault. i wanted to quote the second post in this thread, but i just replied. sorry
  2. i completely disagree. i do a complete core installation in about 20 minutes (i am speaking of two machines, JPLAy dual PC setup, drivers, everything). windows server 2012 with a GUI is a good platform to start. switching to core makes a big difference in sound quality. if you then run my software, you will loose the track of time and space, guaranteed. both my machines, control and audio pc, run the core edition, opzimized by my software. i use JRiver in GUI mode on the core edition control PC. make a portable installation under windwos 7 or windows 8, then copy the folder to your core edition and you are ready to go. i will add foobar support for the core edition. maybe this weekend, let's see. i^m also working on WASAPI integration for the core edition, but that's a hard one... Forget about windows 7 or windows 8 for computer audio. it's just ompletely NOT SUITED for the task. The core edition is the only way to go in my eyes. you will reach regions, you never thought where possible.
  3. Wonderfull, i don't know what else i could want more... An end user who absolutely underlines what I said is true. i can just encourage everyone, try the Server 2012 core way. It's more than worth the effort, and my guide's and files will bring you there very soon. If someone is interested in joining my Beta-Programm, please sign up with an email to [email protected]. 5. Hello Folks Due to the massive success of my audiophile Version of Server 2012 core edition, i decided to stop the development of audiophile windows 8. There will be no Windows 8.1 version, it makes no more sense after the developments of the last weeks. audiophile windows 8 is dead. The increase in SQ is dramatic... we are not talking about another league, wer are talking about another sport. Don't miss the train, and get your system up to the highest level possible today. Please read this thread: Release of new "Windows Server 2012 audiophile Core Edition" this weekend | Computer Audio | Forum | JPLAY - hi-end audio player for Windows Get the actual V1.1 package (approx. 1MB, detailed PDF Guide, needed files and Scripts) here: Netload Serious Filehosting - Netload
  6. Hi Guys If you are using Network drives on your CAPS, please delete the following line in my script before running it: sc config lmhosts start= disabled If you have already run it, and cannot access your network shares anymore, please change that TCP/IP NETBIOS Helper Services from disabled to automatic and start it.
  7. Hi It looks as your mainboard has no high precision event timer. You can't change it... Best is to deactivate HPET in OS and leave it like that, concentrate on LatencyMon.
  8. well, you can let the skript run, and will help you a lot. worst what can happen, is that you have to deactivate HPET in OS. my skript enables HPET in the OS, if you want to disable it on OS type "bcdedit /set useplatformclock false". To activate it again use "bcdedit /set useplatformclock true". And don't forget to reboot after those commands.
  9. i did all measurements without fidelizer. fidelizer eleminates the possibility to run programs with admin rights, so it's a quite bad state for pretty much everything if you are in finetuning and tweaking phase
  10. you are very welcome skipspence here are my results. (i better don't show how it looked before thos optimizations... ) idle: 16Bit, 44,1kHz: 24Bit, 96kHz: 24Bit, 192kHz: ...looking forward to see your improvements!
  11. OK guys.... some time has passed, and i was digging even more how to fine tune our beloved audio PC's. First of all, i bought a new mainboard, new CPU and new RAM. i chose the board with the lowest DPC Latency available at the moment. A Core i3-3220 CPU and 2x4GB DDR3-PC1866 RAM with low latency. Before we start, please download LatencyMon, and observe your current latency. Play some audio files in different resolutions, and watch how much latency your system has... for your own reference Resplendence Software - LatencyMon: suitability checker for real-time audio and other tasks Please also Download WinTimerTest, and run it WinTimerTester_1.1.zip note the value on top, also for your reference. OK, what can you do, to further improve your system? BIOS: - Experiment with Hyperthreading. Theoretically disabling it will lower the latency. in my case, overall performance (regarding latency) is better with HT turned on - Fix your CPU Ratio to the maximum - Enable TurboBoost if possible - Enable HPET (High Precision Event Timer) if possible - Disable Intel VT (Virtualization Technology) - Disable Intel SpeedStep - Disable all C-State controls - Hardware Prefetcher: ON - Disable WOL etc. Device-Manager: - Switch to view by connections, and disable everything you don't need Then please download my skript and run it with administrative privileges: Netload Serious Filehosting - Netload (don't worry, it's 1KB ) After the system has rebooted, pleas run again the LatencyMon and WinTimerTest. WinTimerTest should give you a value around 14,3MHz then everything is fine. LatencyMon should help you to further troublehsoot latency issues on your machine. Eleminate everything what causes latency! I am now able to run JRiver with JPlay5.1 in network streamer mode with everything (44,1-96-192) set to "DirectLink". No more hickups, and sounding better than ever before. it's just amazing! i'm looking forward to your results and feedbacks! ...ENJOY GUYS
  12. That's why i don't like the portable usb stick approach. i have the sotm usb card, and everythin elxe regarding to USB disabled in BIOS. USB is a catastrophic system regarding latency... it's just by design. it was never thought the stream realtime audio. i use a PS2 Keyboard if needed, but not even the keyboard is connected in normal use... i just use RDP
  13. well... you can try to run the setup out of your normal installation, and then do an "upgrade" installation. You shouldn't loose your settings, but no gurante that everything will work perfect. but it should.
