  1. Just a followup on this...one of the mods at Roon allowed me a free trial to login with my old credentials. I took numerous screenshots of my playlists which I will slowly repopulate in my new account. Roon support is helpful but it takes a bit of effort to gain their attention. Hope this might help someone else who might run into this issue in the future.
  2. I had thought that I could restore my backups from one account to another. I have written Roon (through their forum where the help is inconsistent at best) to ask for temporary permission to log in with my old credentials in order to manually write down my playlists such that I can rebuild them within my new account. I'm not hopeful.
  3. thanks..I'll give it a go.
  4. is there another subforum here where someone might have a suggestion?
  5. Recently I changed my Roon account in that I changed my email and password for payment, login etc. I have lost the playlists that I had created with my previous account. I have tried to restore from my previous account backups but the playlists were still missing? Does anyone know how to recover these? ps. I have found the Roon forum to not be a great help on these matters. Is there a way to contact their support directly?
  6. yeah, you're probably right....it sounds like a hassle. The one thing that "computer audio" has taught me in the past few years is that there is more than the last iota of sound quality to obsess about. The sheer availability of music to listen to from streaming and the convenience of file playback overrides the minor variations in SQ I get from different forms of playback including vinyl.
  7. I've got a wee bit of time now so let me get back to my original question...if anyone is still interested in reading and helping. I am lacking in much knowledge about digital files so bear with me. I have had gripes with software ever since CD appeared. I chose not to re purchase all my vinyl titles on CD so I have both and tried to not overlap titles. The few SACD's I have are largely of albums I don't have on other formats. So now, I've accumulated some unique digital download files, many in higher than 16-44.1 rez on various hard drives. I've done a couple of comparisons with CDP's that have a USB input for their DAC section. Comparing my AIFF rips to the original CD, it seems the CD sounds ever slightly better. Yes there are variables like the server but it is what it is. So I am interested in using my EMM Dac2X with a transport. EMM transports can pass DSD through the a proprietary "Optilink" connection. I'm not sure if this can also pass high rez (e.g. 24-192). A regular transport that does 16-44.1 may be all that I require. and will be easier on the budget. So I am wondering how I can get some of those FLAC files I have paid for into a disc I can play physically in a transport. Do I need to copy high rez files to a DVD disc? Does this disc have to played through a blue-ray player? If I simply want the music in physical format will the burned hi rez files play in a regular CDP or transport in 16-44.1? Or maybe I should just forget about it?.
  8. OK...my standby CD player these days is a very old Audio Aero Prima CDP. It's actually very sweet sounding. For my file listening I use an Auralic Aries G1 to an EMM Labs DAC2X typically via USB. I was thinking of getting a used transport to use with this DAC. I have only a few SACD's and was thinking of a standard type of transport. If I were to find an EMM Labs transport with its optilink connection for SACD, would that allow me to play ripped higher rez non DSD files? If not what would I need? One other minor thing, most of my downloaded files are FLAC. I use an iMac which cannot play FLAC. Would it be possible to burn these FLAC files to a CD using my Mac?
  9. well the point is I now have some digital music in computer file form that I would like to play back in a good old optical disc player...just wondering if anyone has burned their downloads to a disc to do this and what the results would be like.
  10. Over the past two years I've really gotten into file playback but optical disc playback just might sound better...sometimes and under certain circumstances.? I've built up a library of music files including high rez 24-192 albums. Has anyone copied these files on to optical discs? Would they be read in the player as 16-44? Has anyone done a comparison of the sound of these reconstituted discs vs the original CD's. Either reconstituting rips or 16-44 and higher rez downloads?
  11. Hi all, This has probably been covered but I can't find the answer... A while back I ripped my CD collection to my desktop hard drive in the form of an iTunes library. I have since copied this library to a Mac Mini which I use as a server in my main system and also to a NAS drive which I use with a couple of Sonos devices. I occasionally acquire a few new CD's. I rip these to my desktop but what is the most convenient way of copying 5-10 CD albums at a time to the Mini and the NAS. I've tried coping the files from the iTunes Media folder on my desktop on to a USB key and then pasting them into the equivalent folder in the Mini or pasting them directly on the NAS but it doesn't seem to work. Thoughts?
  12. any update about a new driver?
  13. Phatoldsun, you've nailed it! I'm using the M2Tech Evo (with clock and PS) into an original EmmLabs DCC2. I go to the M2Tech website and there it is - driver not currently compatible with Mavericks. I should have looked there first before going to Mavericks. I think it would be a royal pain to revert to the older OS so I will have spin the discs the old fashioned way until a fix is available.
  14. I've uninstalled and reinstalled A+ a couple of times. Still cannot get it to play with or without iTunes. In fact, iTunes doesn't play either. Any thoughts appreciated!
  15. yes...have checked outputs and it's as per my dac etc. Unfortunately there is no signal getting as far as the output. I get an error message in A+ : OSError=veda Anyone know what this means?
